 Aug 21:
Game 1 - In the first game of the evening the Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes were fortunate to get past Juggies Brewers in a back and forth affair that went down to the last batter. When the dust had settled the Foxes held on for a 12-11 victory. Sam Montoya was the winning pitcher (4 K's and 2 walks) and Jim Dulle took the loss (3 K's and 3 walks). The Foxes outhit the Brewers 23 to 21 and of note was their 5 run 3rd inning when they had 8 straight singles. For the Foxes Robert Jensen, Darren Emerson, Sam Montoya and Randy Wuerfel were all 3 for 4. Steve Kakuk was 3 for 3 and sub Jim Phillips had a double and a walk in three plate appearances.

Game 2 - The second game on a beautiful Thursday  evening featured the Redi Recyclers Rockies vs. the Garage Pub Fog. The Rockies jumped out to a five run first inning lead, with seven straight hits, highlighted by a grand salami by Glen Stodolka. In the bottom half, the never quit Fog posted three runs. Punches were exchanged by both teams in the next three inning, resulting in a 8-8 tie after four. The Rockies scored four in the top half of the fifth, but not to be outdone, the resilient Fog scored five of their own in the bottom half to make it a 13-12 score in favor of the Garage boys , heading into the last inning.
The Fog had to make an unexpected pitching change in the sixth, having to pull Bill Chapman, who was having a strong effort, in favor of seasoned veteran Rod Insko. After giving up a lead off walk, The Godfather settled in, and held the mighty part of the Rockies lineup to two runs
Trailing by one in the bottom half of the sixth inning, it didn't look promising for the Garage boys, as pitcher Jim Larsen got the first two outs. But doing what they are paid to do, the top half of the Garage order came up with four straight singles, culminating in a walk off line drive by Mike Sills to score the winning run.
Highlights for the Garage were 4-4 nights by team captain Grant Mackay & Kent 'the hammer' Strudwick, 3-3 by veteran Sherwin Lehman and Rod 'the hayseed hammer' Aman, and a 3-4 effort by Ron Jarvis. Excellent pitching by Bill Chapman, and solid play at third by Russ Cameron contributed to the win.
For the Rockies, Keith Bender and Keith Kleckner were 3-4, whilst Kevin Friesen and Gerry Harpell were 3-3.
Shutout to umpires Kerry Buss and Andy Stoh. The tandem umpired all three games, and did an excellent job! Usual thanks to the B&B guys in the kitchen, and our valued volunteers up in the scorekeepers booth!

Game 2 - In a very close game, the Elmer & Harold’s Astros squeaked out a 20 - 19 win over Juggie’s Taphouse. Going into the bottom of the 6th inning, the Astros players were down with the score 19 -17 and the team had been snake bit of late losing 4 in a row. With one swing of the bat, Keith Lutz lifted the team’s spirits crushing a home run and tying the score at 19 - 19. Then the final heroics were provided by Darrell Jesse who placed an opposite field hit down the first base line to drive in the winning run. A night that started out hot changed quickly with the arrival of a cold stream but it did not affect the bats. Juggie’s actually outhit the Astros 26 - 25. For the Astros, Keith Lutz was 4/4 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI’s, Lutz Perschon was 3/3 with 4 RBI’s and Kelly Lutz was 4/4 with 1 RBI. Aug 19:
Game 1 - Another gorgeous evening at the ballpark set the stage for a close matchup between the home team Sauer RV Lakers and the visiting Logo’s Rebels. From the first pitch, it was a tight contest with momentum swinging back and forth.
The Rebels struggled early, going scoreless through the first two innings and managing just one run in the third. They were blanked again in the fourth, while the Lakers steadily built a lead—plating one in the first, two in the second, and another in the fourth to go up 4–1.
But turn it around in their top half of the fifth inning. The Rebels erupted for five runs, flipping the scoreboard and taking control. They tacked on one more in the top of the sixth, and despite a late push from the Lakers, held on for a hard-fought 7–6 victory.
Both squads showed solid defense throughout, keeping the game competitive and entertaining from start to finish.
Big thanks to Jeff and Darlene holding it down in the upper deck and hats off to the Redi Recyclers crew for grilling up the burgers and dogs while keeping the strike zone honest! Special appreciation to Jim Black for stepping up and volunteering on the bases!
