May 19:
Game 1 - Well Red Sox fans, we got off to a slow start letting Juggies get 5 runs in the first. We came back with 3 of our own to make it close.  Juggies scored 2 more in the 3rd to make it 7-3, including Blaine Lutz solo shot. They scored 1 more in the 5th to make it 8-3. But in the 6th the Red Sox started their comeback Boyd Hamm hit a solo shot and we pushed across one more to make it 8-5. In the seventh Juggies scored one run to make it 9-5. Then the Red Sox came up to bat. Boyd Hamm once again hit a monstrous 3 run homer to make it 9-8, then Jack Simons hit a gigantic solo homer to tie the game at 9 and folks that’s how the game ended. Blaine Lutz had one homer for the Juggies and Boyd Ham with 2 and Jack Simons with one for the Red Sox. An excellent game all around with an exciting finish. Thanks to the umpires and concession crew and the announcer and scorekeepers for an excellent job as usual.

The first seven batters in the lineup accounted for 18 hits in 21 trips to the plate and were led by Darrell Bonagofsky and Jim Stewart who both went 3-3 with a home run each. Roland Schlenker and Jeff Thompson both went 3-3 as well. Bill Rothwell made a number of great defensive plays at third base for the Eye Guys taking away a few certain base hits. It was also great for the Optical team to welcome back Brian Christman from his biking injury, nice to have a full roster.
For the Recyclers Keith Kleckner was a perfect 3-3 while six other players chipped in with two hits each. The Recyclers scored four runs each in the fifth and sixth innings but couldn’t push across any more runs in the seventh. It turned out to be another beautiful night at the Diamond, thanks to all the volunteers that make this league possible.
