Game 1 - The Redi Recycle Rockies outlasted the Logos Rebels 15-13. Royce Hopkins, Barry Koch, Kevin Friesen, and Bruce Stuber led the Rockies offence all banging out three hits each. Keith Kleckner, Larry Lutz, and Brent Carson had a pair of knocks for Redi. Jim Larson picked up the win on the mound. For the Rebels in a losing cause - Chris Wandler was for four for four with two doubles. Danny Stevenson had three hits including a triple.

Game 2 - Thursday nights middle game pitted the Station Coffee Longshots against the Sauer RV Storage Lakers. The Lakers were coming off a 2-game losing streak, so they were definitely looking to get back on track. The Longshots, with a depleted squad with some of their starters on the IR, took an early 5-2 lead after the first due to a triple form Gregg Martin and a double by Rich Bergen. It looked like this one might be a tight one, even after the third inning with the Lakers holding down a slim 7-5 lead. But then the Lakers caught fire scoring 15 runs in the last 3 innings while holding the Coffee Gang to just 7. The Lakers banged 30 hits to the Longshots 12. Everyone one in the Laker line up had at least one hit. Weasel Stroh was just a triple short of the cycle while Greg Balas who was just coming off the IR himself had 4 hits. For the Longshots, Cal Mayer was a perfect 4/4 as well as Trent Rasch who was 3/3. Once the flip flop was over the Lakers outscored the Longshots 23-12. Lakers next action is Tuesday at 7:30 when they battle the hard-hitting Mavericks who came off a heartbreaking last inning loss in tonight's third game against the Opticians.

Game 3 - Stewart Optical scored five runs in their last at bat to pull out a 7-5 win over the Mavericks. The game was close all the way and featured a number of big defensive plays as well as great pitching by Randy Biko and Dave Hammel. John Engel and Leon Moch both had a couple of hits for the Mavericks in the low scoring affair while Dan Rattai with 3 hits led the way for the Eye Guys. Rob Price, Gord Moore and Roland Schlenker each chipped in with a couple of hits. Another close well played game.

August 5:
Game 1 - The Fog narrowly defeated the Silver Foxes 13-12 on the first game of Wednesday evening. The Foxes jumped out to a 5-0 lead, starting the game with seven consecutive hits. The Fog added four runs of their own in the bottom half of the first, and it was game on from there.
With the game tied at eleven in the bottom of the sixth, Daniel Morissette hit a huge two RBI double for the Fog to go up 13-11. In the top half of the seventh, the Foxes managed to load the bases, and scored one run, but the Fog defense closed the door for a 13-12 win. All three games this year between the Fog and Foxes have been decided by on run, with Fog taking the season series 2-1.
Mike Sills had three hits for the Fog, while Grant Mackay, Dieter Stanke, Bill Chapman, Sherwin Lehman, Ken Longmore, Jake Thomas, and the aforementioned Morissette had two. Bill Chapman picked up the W behind the net.
For the Foxes, Todd Kopec was 4-4, and Paul Savage, Glenn Stenhouse, and Glenn Kessler were 3-4, with sub Tim Johnson going 2-3. Randy and Sam combined to pitch well for the Foxes in defeat.

Game 2 - Elmer & Harold’s Astros managed a 13 - 6 win over the Juggies Brewers in the second game of the night. For the Brewers, Larry Biko was 3/3, Mike Ferre was 3/4 and Jamie White was 2/3. For the Astros, Dave Sawatsky was 3/3 with a walk, Frank Merkl, Darrell Jesse, Bill Ramage and Keith Lutz were all 3/4 with Keith smacking the only home run in the game. Speaking of Keith, he was complaining of a sore back with having to carry around a brick someone placed in his ball bag. He has followed some clues and has a suspect in mind.

Game 3 - Mikes Meateors finally got the Bumper off its back by beating the Blue Jays 11-3 on a humid night at the field of dreams. Pitching and defence were again the theme of the night, holding the jays to 10 hits while pounding out 20 of their own. Big Jim Fink was 4/4, while Dave R, Ron P and Miles M all had three hits. Bumper had two hit nights from Mike P, Paul J and Andy C with the only extra base hit. Thanks to Derrys crew for umping and Kitchen duties.

August 4:
Game 1 - The Juggies TapHouse Brewers got their 5th win of the season tonight, outlasting the Redi Recyclers, 18-12. Sometimes, it's not how hard you hit them, it's where they land. A hard hit fly ball to the fence gets caught, a little Texas leaguer over the infield is a hit. We did that all night for a total of 28 hits. The middle of our batting lineup provided 16 of those hits, Todd Toews, Larry Biko (4 RBI's), Jim Dulle (5 RBI's) and Jamie White were all 4-4. Mike Ferre and Paul Savard were both 3-4. For the Recyclers, Barry Koch was 3-3, missing out on hitting for the cycle. He had a homer, double and triple, needed one more at bat. Jim Larson also was 3-3 with a couple doubles. Glen Stodalka, Brent Carson, Keith Kleckner and David Camphor were all 2-3. Jim D got the win and Bruce S took the loss. Thanks to the Lakers for their hard volunteer work tonight, and to the crew in the press box.

Game 2 - In another very close game Stewart Optical and Station Coffee entered the seventh inning all tied up at 12. The Longshots failed to score in their half of the inning opening the door for the Eye Guys. The first two batters reached base bringing Darrell Bonagofsky to the plate with two men on and nobody out and he delivered with a long ball to the fence driving in the winning run. Final score Stewart Optical 13, Station Coffee Longshots 12. Each team had 23 hits and some big defensive plays by both teams kept the game close. A pitching change to bring in closer Randy Biko in the top of seven might have been the big move that swung the momentum for Stewies. Darrell Bonagofsky, Rob Price, Randy Biko and James Phillips all had three hits for the Eye Guys while four others had two hits each. For the Longshots, Blair Hennes, Cal Mayer, Rich Bergen, Brian Stonehouse, Greg Martin and Trent Rasch all had three hits while Al Martin and James Giesbrecht each added a pair of hits. Jim Stewart and Al Martin both hit home runs on a perfect night at the ballpark.

Game 3 - On a perfect night for ball, Elmer & Harold’s Astros came out on top of a 14 - 7 score over the Red Sox. For the Red Sox, Harvey Buye was 2/3, Derry Eresman, Boyd Hamm, Howard Gehring and Garth Stark (3 rbi’s) were all 2/4 with Garth hitting the only home run of the game. For the Astros, Bill Ramage was 4/4 (3 rbi’s), Kelly Lutz and Maurey Salmon were 3/4 with Maurey legging out a triple. Frank Merkl, Keith Lutz (3 rbi’s), Lutz Perschon and Wade Watson were all 2/4 with Wade also hitting a triple. Wade also made some key catches in the field. The mystery of the night was Keith Lutz discovering a brick placed in his ball bag. Who done it?

August 3:
Game 1 - The Garage Pub team put together an almost perfect team effort to defeat the mighty Mavericks on a great and temperature friendly night for ball. The Fog boys scored nine in their first two at bats, while holding the Mavs to four after the first two innings.
Things settled down after the first two, with the Fog then scoring three in the fifth, and the Mavericks scoring two in the sixth. When it was all said and done, the Garage boys prevailed with a 13-8 victory.
John Engle lead the way for the Mavs with a HR and two doubles, Jeff Hall also hit an HR, Kerry Scentag and Darren Heinz were 3-3, and Dave Hammel, Leon Moch, Dave Hamilton, Dale Weisgerber, and Derek Nielson chipped in two hits.
For the Fog, Grant Mackay and Ron Jarvis were 3-3, while Mike Sills, Dieter Stanke, Rod Aman, Sherwin Lehman, and Bill Chapman added two hits each. Special mention to Russ Cameron, Ken Longmore, and Daniel Morissette for great defensive play.
Great game and great sportsmanship displayed by both teams, and gold standard umpiring by Gerrard and Pierre. Also thanks to the Lakers crew in the kitchen, and to Lutz and Darlene in the booth!

Game 2 - In the second game of the night, the Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes outlasted the Bumper to Bumper Blue Jays by a 12-10 score. The winning pitcher was Randy Wuerfel and Tom Baker took the loss. Baker had a chance to help his cause with 2 on and 2 out in the bottom of the seventh, but he lined out to first base and that, as they say, was all she wrote. For Bumper to Bumper Lyle Kennedy (double, 3 RBI) and Kevin Lane (double/triple, 4 RBI) were both 4/4. Paul Jollymore was on base all 3 times with 2 walks. Kerry Buss and Tom Baker were both 3/4. 3 other Blue Jays had 2 hits each. For the Silver Foxes, Darren Emerson was 4/4 (Triple - 4 RBIs) and Todd Kopec (solo home run), Glenn Stenhouse, and Perry Nurse were all 3/4. 6 other Foxes had 2 hits each. Thanks to our 2 subs, Perry Nurse and Larry Biko for their play in the field and their hitting going a combined 5/7.

Game 3 - Great defence and excellent pitching from both sides led to a classic ball game that saw Mikes edge the Rebels 6-5. Both squads hit the ball hard, but more often than not a great catch was made by the defence. Pitchers Jim Fink and Dean Roy allowed no walks in the fast paced game. In a back and forth game the meatheads needed 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to secure victory. Mikes was led by Dave Robertson 3 hits and Clint Santer double off the wall that scored the winning two. The rebels had three hit nights from Dan Stevenson, Dean Roy and Jim Cooper. Thanks to ageless sub Jim Noon who can still play and Gerard’s crew for umping and cooking.
