Day 1 report:
Still Hot? Yes very. Were the guys ready to play? Yes. Was it a great first day? Yes. Will it get tougher as the week goes on? Absolutely.
The first game started out scary against a squad from BC with some pickups from Colorado thanks to some shoddy pitching by the Huffers chucker. BC picks up 3 runs in the first. As in the past the sluggers picked him up. Huffers pick up 5 in the first then played some outstanding defense the rest of the way while keeping the hitting hot. Final score:
Med Hat Boys 13 BC Force 10.
The second game was up against an “AA” squad from Detroit Michigan. HuffnPuff knew it wouldn’t be easy. After only giving up a run in the top of the first the boys in blue from Med Hat once again put up a 5 spot in the bottom of the inning. The Huffers “MO” over the last 2 years has been solid hitting and they didn’t disappoint the girls in the stands again tonight. Besides once again the solid defence, the gas city boys scored 16 runs enroute to a 16-9 victory over the Motor City.
The infield turned no less than 6 double plays on the day which is impressive in itself. The offence was relentless when it had to be with multiply extra base hits including a deep bomb dinger in the second contest. The round robin wraps up tomorrow afternoon with a matinee game. From here they wait to see where and when the playoffs start.
Great weather, great times, awesome people. What else can you ask for? A medal? Sure, time will tell.
