Sept 8 - Sept 12 Scores and Hi-Lites

Sept 12:
Game 1 - On the final night of the season the Red Sox won their fourth in a row defeating Stewart Optical 15-12. It was a hard fought game with the lead changing a couple of times. Everyone on the Red Sox had at least one hit and Jim Stewart led his team with a 3/4 performance. So as another season comes to a close I would like to thank my teammates for a good season. We started off slow but finished strong. As someone said it is not how you start but how you finish. Thanks to all the other teams for playing hard and having a good time. To everyone who umpired and manned the concession stand many thanks for your hard work. And to the announcers and scorekeepers many thanks again. To the league thanks for another outstanding season. Till next season may you all have a good offseason and God bless.

Game 2 - On a fantastic September evening, the last game of the season, Juggies Taphouse took on the Bumper to Bumper Blue Jays. There was lots of chatter, hoping Juggies could take down B2B.

The Blue Jays scored 3 in the second, on a Homerun by Jim Stewart, to make it 5-1 after 2. Juggies scored 1 in the 3rd to make it 5-2 after 3. It was 7-3 after 4 innings. In the 5th, Juggies scored 5 to make it 8-7 after 5. In the 6th, Juggies scored 3 more to make it 11-8 after 6. In the 7th, it was decided to limit it to 5 runs instead of an open inning, because it was getting dark. The Blue Jays scored 5 with no outs and held off Juggies to win the game 13-11.
Leading the way for Juggies, Dale Dies was 4-4 with a double, Mark Porter was 3-4. For the Blue Jays, Lyle Kennedy, Kevin Lane, Andy Christie & Mike Peters went 3-4. Jim Stewart went 3-3 with a 3 run Home Run!

Sept 8:
Game 1 - In the final game of the season for both teams, the Garage Pub Fog team managed to pull off a 12-11 win over a very good Station Coffee team, who had defeated the Fog guys in both of the previous matches. It was a very competitive game between two teams who displayed great sportsmanship, and mutual respect for each  other.
Highlights for the Coffee guys were Cal Mayer & Wayne Miller going 3-3 at the plate, and Rod Sommerfeld going 2-3 with two line drive singles, we'll done Rod! Brian Stonehouse pitched a solid, complete game for Station, and probably only gave up three or four earned runs.
Highlights for the Fog were catcher Daniel Morissette going 3-4, Grant Mackay 3-3, and Rod Insko driving in the game winning run! Insko and Bill Chapman were effective on the mound, alternating innings and holding the Coffee guys to 11 runs.
The Garage Pub  team fell two wins short of their goal of a .500 season, but played hard, averaged 13 players in attendance per game, and only had to pick up substitution players once. Coach Mike 'just do your damn job' Sills couldn't be prouder of the team him and team rep Rod Insko assembled.
Thanks to the Meators for the umping and concession, and the volunteers in the score booth for your great work all season! Also thanks to the league executives, team sponsors, volunteers, and the reps and coaches for each team who put the extra time in to make this the great league that it it is!
