July 28 - July 31 Scores and Hi-Lites

July 31:
Game 1 - Sauer RV Storage Lakers and the Morrison Mavericks were locked in a tense battle that had them tied at six after five innings. A three-run rally by the Mavericks in the sixth while holding the Lakers to single runs in the final innings carried them to a tight 9 - 8 win.
A circus shoe top catch by Dale Weisgerber in left field for the final out of the game denied the Lakers from tying the match.
Curtis Scherger, the Lakers' shortstop, had two extra base hits and a free pass while scoring three. For the Mavs John Engel smacked out two doubles and a single for three RBIs while crossing home plate three times.

Game 2 - For only the second time all year every one of the Stewart Optical players showed up with a jersey on and 12 of them were even healthy enough to play. The Eye Guys used a balanced attack, getting hits from almost everyone in the lineup to defeat the Logos Rebels 12-6. Dan Rattai and Darrell Bonagofsky led the offence both going 3-3 while Roland Schlenker, Brian Christman and James Phillips added a pair of hits. Rover extraordinaire Roland Schlenker made a number of big plays but the defensive highlight of the night was a diving catch by Dan Rattai that he turned into a double play. Once again Low-ball Randy Biko was solid on the mound keeping the Rebels guessing all night.
The Rebels welcomed back Darrell Bartman from the injury list, who was able to try pitching for a couple of innings, hopefully he’s back full time soon. Six Rebels each picked up a couple of hits including Chris Wandler, Danny Stevenson, Larry Rudolph, Dean Roy, Doug Davies and Billy Martin who also made a number of big catches from his Rover position. Unfortunately for Logos a couple of double plays snuffed out two potentially big innings. Another beautiful night at the ballpark!

Game 1 - The Elmer & Harold’s Astros and Stewart Optical started off another great night at the ballpark with a very close game. After being tied or behind the whole game, the Eye Guys scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull off a 9-9 draw. Rob Price and Dan Rattai were both 4-4 with a couple of RBI’s to lead Stewart’s while super sub Gerard Hittel went 3-3. Randy Biko was solid on the mound keeping the Astros mostly in the park and also added a double and drove in two runs in the last inning to tie the game. A lot of the hard hit balls found gloves while a number of bloopers and sun balls found the grass.
For the Astros Rick Parker was 3-3 while Freddie Bohnet, Maurey Salmon, Keith Lutz and Jim Black all went 2-3 with Keith hitting a two run homer. Frank Merle once again was solid at Rover making a number of big defensive plays. Freddie Bohnet, Fred Kelln and Kelly Lutz shared the runner for the Astros.

Offensive highlights for the Foxes were Boyd Kosolofski /3-4/singles/Darren Emerson and Paul Savage both 3-4/doubles/. For the Red Sox Derry Eresman 2-3/triple/Bruce Gardner 2-2/singles.      Game 3 - In the last game of the evening, the Logos Rebels hosted Juggies Tap House Brewers. With Juggies jumping out to 4 runs in their top half of the first. The Rebels could only answer with 1. In the third inning the script was almost flipped. The Brewers scored 1 and the Rebels countered with 5 taking the lead 6-5. The Brewers were only able to manage 2 in their next 3 innings while Logos were able to add 5 more to take a 11-7 lead into the open 7th inning. Then all the bats got hot. Juggies fire was final put out after pounding out 9 hits scoring 9 runs to take a 16-11 lead. That didn’t deter Logos as the scored 5 on 4 hits of their own to tie the game 16-16. Even the hits were tied at 26-26. All in all, another great night for ball, fun, friendship and a few laughs.
