Game 2 - The second game of the night, under beautiful sunny skies, featured the "Mighty Mike's Meats Meateors" against the Sauer RV Storage Lakers. The Meateors have been one of the teams to beat the last couple of years while the Lakers were trying to get back to .500 with a win on this night before the storm blows in. The Lakers started quickly with 4 runs in the first, but the "Meat Guys" responded with 3 of their own. That would be the closest they would get the rest of the night though as the Lakers seemed to hit every hole possible. "Sibbald Shantz" reached base 4 times as well "Crazy Legged Cote". "Shortstop Stroh" who is filling in admirably for the injured Huggy Scherger chipped in with 2 doubles and a triple. The Lakers banged out 25 hits including 2 from "Gee-Tar strumming Phil Marleau and 2 from the old "MNP Beancounter", Kenny Zollner. The Meateors did manage 2 dingers on the night. One a deep blast from Kelly Martin and an inside the park no doubter from Donnie Halberg. 2nd baseman Miles Mayer also had 2 bullet singles up the middle for a good night at the plate.
But on this night, the Lakers not only scored quickly and often but had the defense to back it up with some great catches in the outfield and some heads-up outs in the infield. Make the final Lakers 17 Meateors 5. Thanks to the Maverick squad for the heads up umping and keeping the concession hopping as usual. Button down the hatches.................hopefully the infield is only full of ducks the next 3 days. We need a good soaker.

Super sub Barry Koch was perfect at the plate with two singles, a double and a homer while scoring three times. Along with that Koch also made a scintillating catch in left centre.

Game 3 - In the final game of the evening, The Garage Pub Fog faced the CCC Silver Foxes. The Fog scored two runs in the top of the first, but the Foxes doubled that with four of their own in the bottom half. From then on, the Fog played stellar defense and shutout the Foxes for the final six innings. The Fog added ten more runs for a 12-4 victory.
Boyd Kosolofski and Sam Montoya were both 3-3 at the plate, while Steve Kakuk was 2-2 and also drew a walk. Darren Emerson was solid in left field, catching half a dozen or so fly balls. Montoya pitched a solid game for the Foxes in a losing cause.
For the Fog, Jake Thomas, Grant Mackay, Ron Jarvis, and Dieter Stanke were all 3-4 at the plate, with Mackay having three doubles. The real story though was the defensive display put on by the Fog. Mackay was flawless at shortstop fielding every ball hit his was, accompanied by pinpoint throws. The entire outfield of the Fog was also on their game, making catch after catch to frustrate the Foxes. Bill Chapman was stellar at pitcher for the Fog, throwing six straight scoreless innings.
Thanks to Jim and Ron from Mike's Meat's for umpiring, and to the rest of the Meateors in the concession stand. Also, another thank you to the volunteers in the scorekeeper's booth.
