Saturday Report:
The 65's are playing in the Calgary Tournament, 2 games today, won both by fairly lopsided scores. First game was Strike Force and the 2nd game was the Ancient Mariners.
I think both ended with the mercy rule. Much tougher schedule tomorrow, playing Kelowna and the Calgary Chargers. Both those teams hit hard and are very good teams. We will have our hands full, but we have a good team as well and our hitting was very strong today. Should be a couple good tests.
As you may have noticed, we have added 3 60"s to our squad for the weekend, which we are allowed to do by the rules. About 4 of our 65's couldn't make it this weekend, so we really appreciate the 3 guys that agreed to come along and help us out. More results to follow tomorrow.

Sunday Report:
We started early this morning, an 8:30 tilt against Kelowna 97, their 65+ team ?? A very good team, good guys, and a close game. The Huff n Puffs prevailed, 16-14. We started out very strong, and we thought it might be a bit of a run-away, but, hold on here, they woke up. I think it was 16-9 going into the top of the 7th, scored 5 and were threatening for more, but our excellent defense stifled their come-back. We didn't have to bat in the bottom of the 7th.
Our 2nd game of the day was 12:30 after sitting around for 3 hours in the heat, against the Calgary Chargers. Needless to say, after the long wait, we came out flat and didn't hit. Also, that was the Chargers first game of the day, so they were well rested and chomping at the bit. They took full advantage of our tired crew and mercied us in 5 innings, which ended our very good weekend. We played very well for 3 games, and kinda pooped our pants in our final game. That happens. It was a fun, hot weekend.
After being at 2 other tournaments this summer, 3 counting ours, it is quite obvious that no one runs a tournament like the good old Huff N Puffs. Our preparation, both on the field and off, is second to none. This weekend was at 2 diamonds that we never played at before, up north on Aero drive, by the airport. Hope we don't have to play there again. It was an adventure for the outfielders, a sloped field, gopher holes and very rough grass. You never knew where a hard hit line drive was going to bounce, and off it went, down a slope to the fence. Oh well, it was the same for everyone. We still had a good weekend and played well.
See you back at our wonderful Field of Dreams, Lorne Holden Field.
