-Game Two
The second game of the night featured the visiting Trackside Liquor Store IPA's and the now defunct sponsor, Southridge Wine & Whiskey (new sponsor required). The boys by the tracks came out on top 24-13 with very hot bats that were firing on all cylinders. We belted out a total of 36 hits, leading the way were Craig Smith & Blaine Lutz, 4-4, Dale Wood, 3-3, and most everyone else going 3-4. Some nights you can't buy a hit, some nights everything drops in. For the whiskey drinkers, Jim Dulle and Jeff Hall were both 3-4, with Jeff hitting a dinger. Thanks to everyone who volunteered on the diamond, in the kitchen and up in the press box.

-Game Three
The Lakers jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead after the 1st inning due to a 3 run home run by Barry Koch. The Lakers scored 4 runs in the 3rd and 3 runs in the 5th to make it a 10 to 0 score after 6 innings. The Red Sox’s got two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to make the final score 10-2 for the Lakers. Royce Hopkins went 3 for 3 at the plate for the Red Sox’s. The Red Sox’s hit the ball hard but straight to the Lakers defense who were without errors for 1 game in a row.
Leroy Friesen went 4 for 4 at the widened plate while making 4 1/2 outs at rover, while Gerard Hittel went 3 for 3 with some bullets to the outfield where no one was roaming, Gerry White shoes went 2 for 3 and Barry Koch went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs. No excuse for the sun as the game started with darkness in the air and on our side. The Lakers welcomed Barry Koch and Brian Hoffner back after being sidelined for 2 weeks for the use of a banned substance.
Thanks to Sherwin Lehman for subbing for the Lakers.

Aug 17:
-Game One
A good first game tonight between the Cross Town Courier Red Sox and Trackside Liquor Store IPA's, with the IPA's winning 13-7. Nice to see Royce Hopkins back after an extended stay on the DL, and he made some great plays at short. The IPA's had a couple HR's tonight, a solo by Deiter Stanke and the first ever dinger by Darren Heinz, a 3 run shot over the left field fence. Nice shot Darren,,, and his daughter is getting married this Saturday, so I guess that one was for her. Thanks to the coffee crew for working tonight and Bob and Gary in the press box.

-Game Two
The Morrison Mavericks rode two five-run innings and a stout defense to a 13 - 8 win over the Redi Recyclers. Rick Parker and "Catfish" Cote continued their mastery at the plate. Parker homered, singled and doubled while Cote had two singles and a double. Each scored three runs. Cote contributed mightily in left field as did Jim Phillips in right center.
Redi was held to just one run over the first five innings but came on strong at the end. They simply ran out of time.

-Game Three
In the last game of the evening the bats came alive for Stewart Optical as they defeated the Garage Pub 21-6. Jim Stewart, Kevin Lane and Darryl Bonagofsky all hit home runs for the optical team, and combined for 11 hits. Blair Bosch, Rob Fischer and Jeff Thompson also added four hits apiece for the winners. Jim Stewart picked up the win on the mound but was aided by some great run support throughout the lineup and some big defensive plays from Chad Stahl, Kevin Lane and Fred Kelln. For the Pub team Gord Deibert, Keith Bender, Brian Christmann and Rod Sommerfeld all had a pair of hits.

For the Opticals, Chad Stahl, Kevin Lane and Darrell Bonogofsky batted 1.000. Home Runs were hit by Kevin and Darrell. On the E&H side Keith Lutz batted 1.000 including a 3 run homer. Dennis Young made a lightning quick catch on a tip foul at home plate in the 5th inning that had to be seen to be believed! For E&H some stellar defense was played by Robert Jensen and Frank Merkle accounting for 7 of the Opticals 21 outs.

-Game Three
The Morrison Mavericks scored in every inning but one on their way to defeating the Logo's Rebels by a score of 18 to 13. Rick Parker, returning from "down south" had a perfect night at the plate with two homers, two singles, four RBI's and four runs scored. Pierre Cote went three for four including a solo home run and scored three runs.
Starting pitcher, Rod Insko, reached his pitch count limit and was replaced by Vern Herter for the seventh inning. Herter surrendered one run in the mop up role.
The hard hitting Rebels scored in bunches but not quite often enough.
