August 8 - 11 Schedule and Results

August 11
-Game One
Well Giants oops I mean Red Sox fans the Red Sox are as hot as the temperature outside as for the second game in a row we hit 19 runs in a 19-6 victory over the Logos Rebels. Royce Hopkins led the way with a Homer and narrowly missed another. Special kudos to our substitute players Jim Noon and James Bonogifsky who was the winning picture tonight as well as Monday night. Thanks again guys. The rest of the team played well and your reporter got a good cardio workout running the bases.
Game Report By Bob Marfleet with an assist from Harv Buye.

-Game Two
The top 5 batters in the E&H line-up tonight combined for 14 hits and one walk, highlighted by Keith Lutz's 2 home runs and 8 RBI'S. The remaining 5 runs were driven in by Bill Ramage, Steve Kakuk and Jim Poersch. For the FOG, Dave Hamell had a triple, Dale Deis two doubles and Larry Biko 3 singles to account for 6 of the FOG 7 runs. Defensively in the 4th inning,Jim Noon made a "scintillating" bare handed catch on a "cannonading" line drive off the bat of Dave Sawatsky. In explaining the catch Jim responded" I didn't want to bother with transferring the ball from my glove in case I had to make a throw!"

-Game Three
The IPA boys come out on top of the Station Coffee guys by a score of 8 - 6. They are a very good team but Dale Wood was a great strategist in organizing a great defense to shut the brew crew down. Great team effort.

-Game Two
The severely depleted Lakers faced Stewart Optical in the second game of the night. The Lakers faced some diversity with 7 players either on the injury list, the vacation list, the work list, the suspension list (JK), or the $hit List called up 4 players from the minors. Garth Burton with 3 hits, Billy (Right Field) Ramage, & Lanny Lutz all tore the cover off the ball and wore out their cleats rounding the bases. The 4th call up from “AA”, Tim Mayer, played second base like he was Roberto Alomar. As far the Lakers regulars go, TJ Johnson, Kevin “The Owner” Sauer and the old Train Engineer Darrell Bonenfant had 3 hits apiece. The Optical squad just couldn’t get any runs for Larry “Savvy” Savage although the Lakers committed “O” errors (Yes zero/nil/nudda) so it was tough for the blue team to build any momentum offensively. The “Optical Owner” Stewy made a number of stellar plays at Short to keep the Lakers from scoring more than they actually did. After the dust settled and the sun set it was Canadian Energy Lakers 15 Stewart Optical 5.
Game Report By Gerard Hittel

Game Three
A sparkling defensive display by the Morrison Mavericks paved the way to a 15 - 6 win over Elmer & Harold's. The Mavs' outfield, led by Chris Wandler with seven putouts, kept E&H off the scoreboard over four consecutive innings. Chris was ably supported by Pierre Cote, Jim Phillips and Kent Strudwick along with Sherwin Lehman in the rover position.
Phillips and Cote also contributed to the offence with solo home runs. The Phillips homer was inside the park while Cote's, showing off in front of family, was a monster shot into the right field trees.
