August 22 - 25 Schedule and Results

Aug 25:
-Game One
After a long drought, the Logos Rebels finally won a game. Logos defeated IPA 10-8. Craig Smith went 3 for 4 and Pierre Cote, in a rental position, went 3 for 3 for IPA. Perry Nurse went all 6 on the mound for Logos and added a 4-4 night at the plate. Great night for a ball game and a big thanks to the concession and umpire crews.

-Game Two
For only the second time this season the Red Sox had no subs in their lineup. With a full lineup of regulars they prevailed over the Southridge Wine 16-9. Don Hallberg and Darrel Maser went 4 for 4 in the winning cause. The rest of the team played well to lead the team to victory.

-Game Three
The Morrison Mavericks rebounded from an early 7 -  4 deficit to defeat Stewart Optical by a score of 15 to 7. The Mavs' stingy defense held the heavy Optical sluggers off the scoreboard over the final four innings. Notable catches were made by the corner men, Gerry "Too Tall" Tessman and Brent Carson, as well as Chris Wandler, Jim Phillips and the amazing game-ending catch by Sherwin Lehman.
The Mavericks were again led on the offensive side by Rick Parker with a single, double and a towering homer to knock in four runs in total. Carson and Roland Schlenker each had three RBIs. "IRod" Insko bashed out two singles and scored twice.

-Game One
It was barn burner tonight as the Red Sox hung on to beat the Mavericks 14-13. Rick Parker hit a solo shot for the Mavericks and Chris Sandler had an inside the park homer for the Mavericks. Derry Eresman went 4 for 4 for the Red Sox. It was close right to the end and it took an outstanding catch by the Red Sox rover to prevent Rick Parker from hitting the game winning hit. Thanks to our subs Tim Johnson pitcher who also helped his cause with a bases loaded double and Ron Stubbs shortstop and Leroy Friesen who also contributed to our win. Thanks again guys.

Jim Larson suffered the pitching loss while Dean Roy controlled the win for the Pub.
Game Report By Dave Hammel

-Game Three
After 2 innings it was 5 to 4 for the Lakers then 9 to 4 for the Lakers after 3 and 14 to 9 after 4. The horn went and then the 2 coaches played a game of Rock Paper Scissors to have the open inning as the 5th. Even the cooks in the kitchen were confused. The game ended up 16+2 for the Lakers VS 10-1 for the new E & H Astros.
The Lutz brothers and coach Ramage went 2 for 3 for the Astros.
Barry knock the door ginger Koch went 4 for 4 at the plate along with 2 HR’s, joining Boom Boom Koch was 4X4 Darrell Bonenfant coming in at 7’2” while playing 1st base. Lutz sneaky Perschon also went 3 for 4 at the plate.
The catch of the night was by Brian Hoffner who ran 1/2 way home to Liebenthal to catch a fly ball.
The Astro’s fell short tonight due to no metal garbage cans that have actually been used in a few critical wins.
Thanks to Tom Baker, B player and Vern Herter C, player for helping the Lakers with the win over a very strong newly Astro’s team.
Thanks again to the umpires who were 99.9% accurate.

Aug 23:
-Game One
The game was Sponsored by Meatloaf and his # 1 hit “On a Hot Summers Night” the Lakers defeated the Whiskey drinkers from South ridge. 14 to 7.
South Ridge came out early with 2 runs in the first while the Lakers stumbled with no runs in the first but came back with 5 runs in the 2nd. The whiskey drinkers got 1 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th ,1 in the 5th and 6th but it wasn’t enough to hold the sober Lakers who continued with another 9 runs.
Dan Rattai went 3 for 3 for the Southridge & Wine while 6 of his other compadres  went 2 for 3.
The Lakers had strong pitching, good defense and a few great catches in the field. One was also looking into the sun but he caught it by catching the black ball as he described it. He should book an appointment at Stewart optical to get his Color’s coordinated correctly. The Lakers had 1 Home Run by Huggy Scherger who reached first play on the HR. That was 1 in a row for him since he came off IR or since the beginning of the season.
Brian Hoffner and Kieth Lutz (C player) went 3 for 3 at the narrow plate, while 5 other Lakers went 2 for 3. I know the math is right because we used the Gusintas for our addition.
Thanks to the umpires who went 8.5 for 9.

-Game Two
The Station Long Shots Defeated Logo's Rebels by a score of 10 - 2. John Engel went 2 for 3 with a home run. Grant McKay was 3 for 3, and Trent Rasch went 3 for 3. Blair Hennes had a triple and went 3 for 4.
Game Report By Wayne Miller.

-Game Three
The last game of the evening featured the visiting Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes and the Trackside IPA's, with the IPA's winning a close game, 10-7. Trackside had their full 14 players on the bench tonight, which is always nice to see, so everyone only got up to bat twice except for our lead-off hitter, Craig Smith, who managed 3 at bats. In these shortened 6 inning games, you better make the most of your appearances at the plate, because there aren't very many when you have a full team. Our all-stars tonight were Deiter Stanke and Al Martens, both 2-2 and each with a HR. Kasey Valkenburg, Brian Stonehouse and Jamie White were also 2-2. For the Foxes, Ken Wou, Randy Wuerfuel, Sam Montoya and super-sub Lorne Knodel all had 2 hits. Thanks to the depleted Red Sox crew (same guys) for running the show, and to President Black and his First Lady up in the press box.

Aug 22:
-Game One
The Garage Pub defeated the Station Coffee Long shots 6-2. Lead by the return of Hugh English, and the great pitching from Doug Roberts, and a 3run homer from Danny Stevenson didn’t hurt either. We played great defense holding the Long shots to 2 runs.
Game Report By Larry Biko

-Game Two
In a game that featured good defense on both sides of the diamond, it has to be noted that both pitchers, Jim Fink and Super Sub Rod Insko, kept all the hitters within the ballpark tonight. Highlight hitters for Copper Coulee were Ken Weu and Sam Montoya each batting 1.000 and on the E&H side, Kelly Lutz, Keith Lutz and Bill Ramage accomplished the same feat.
Game Report By Jim Black

-Game Three
The Redi Recyclers spotted Stewart Optical an early 5-3 lead before coming back and holding onto an 8-7 victory. Lorne Knodel continued his torrid hitting going there for three for the Recyclers. Mike Ferre also had a three hit night for Redi. Jim Stewart had a trio of hits and Darrell Bonagosky blasted a homer for the eye guys. David Camphor had a couple of huge catches for the Recyclers. Joe Steinbacher pitched for Redi, Jim Stewart took to the mound for the eye guys.
