June 12 - 15 Scores and Hi-Lites

June 15:
Game 1 - On a day full of wind, clouds, smoke and some rain, the weather cleared up just in time for the Senior Mens Slowpitch League to enjoy another almost perfect evening. Stewart Optical got big nights from almost everyone in the lineup as they came up with an 18 - 8 win over Mikes Meats Meateors. Fred Kelln had a good night on the mound picking up a couple of foul outs and walking only one. Darrell Bonagofsky added another home run to his total and reached base all four times. Kevin Lane, Paul Savard, Royce Hopkins, Mike Sills and Jeff Thompson all reached base three times for the balanced offence. Tom Baker led the Meateors offence with three hits while Ron Stubbs and Greg Martin chipped in with a couple of hits each. Both teams made some big defensive plays but the big difference was the 10 runs the Eye Guys scored with two away. Thanks to Darryl and Blaine for umping a great game.

Game 2 - An excellent ballgame for our 2nd game tonight between two very evenly matched teams, Elmer & Harold's Astros and Juggies TapHouse Brewers. Fittingly, it ended in a tie 13-13. The lead changed hands many times during the game, with E & H going up by 3 in the top of the 7th on a Grand Salami by Keith Lutz. Needing 3 to tie the game with the top of our lineup at the plate, we came through with 3 runs, Darren Heinz coming up with a big 2 out single to drive in the tying run. Al Martens also hit a 2 run HR for the Brewers in the first inning. Very good pitching on both sides, Jim Fink and Brian Stonehouse, and very good defense, virtually zero errors. Fun times.
Game Report By Jamie White

Game 3 - In the final game of the evening, Stewart Optical defeated Logos by a score of 11-3. Darrel Bonagofsky hit a couple of home runs for the Eye Guys, one inside the park and one outside and also added a double while Jim Stewart hit a line drive home run that was still climbing when it left the park. Chad Stahl had another good game at 2nd turning a pair of double plays. Garth Stark had a solid night for Logos with two home runs but fell about five feet short from getting a third. Another beautiful night for ball.
