Monday May 15 - Thursday May 17 Scores and Hi-Lites

May 17:
Game 1 - Well the start of the 2023 slow pitch season is here. The Red Sox started off playing the Copper Coulee Casino. After a slow start and falling behind early, the Red Sox shook off the cobwebs and rebounded for a 13-8 victory. With a solid performance from everyone including your reporter who went 2-3. Darrel Maser went 3 for 3 with 1 RBI, Royce Hopkins had a single and a double with 1 RBI, Derry Eresman had one single with 2 RBIs and the rest had strong outings and good fielding. Welcome to the newcomers on the Red Sox, Rob Price, Larry Granger, and Bill Lapshinoff. We welcome you and look forward to an exciting season with you. Also a special welcome back to Ken Bachmeier. It is good to have you back with us if not on the field but as an inspiration to us all. Till next time.

May 16:
Game 1 - While the flags around Lorne Holden were at attention from the start to the end of the game, the Lakers came away with a trimmed toe nail victory over the Logos 10 - 8.
Even though this was the first game of the year, for the first time there was more rust on the Finley bridge than the two long winter hibernating teams battling it out.
Logos jumped ahead 7-3 after 3 innings on 6 RBI’s evenly spread between Larry Rudolf, Leon Moch and Boom Boom Garth Stark.
The Lakers came back in the 4th and 5th inning with 7 runs to make the score 10-7 for the Lakers due to them putting some WD 40 on Barry Koch, Mike Shantz (both 3/3 on the night) Trevor Fauth and Walter Pratt’s bats. Gerard Hittel walked away with the first win of the year while keeping some rust on the Logo bats.
Thanks to the umps for a fine performance and for calling, infield fly rule several times due the hard Fought battle.

Game 1 - Stewart Optical opened the 2023 Senior Men’s Slow Pitch season with a 13-5 win over the Garage Pub. Jim Stewart was also 3 for 3 with a home run, while Paul Savard also had 3 hits in his first game in the league. Fred Kellin and Kevin Lane both chipped in with a couple of hits apiece. Fred Bohnet pitched a strong game for the eye guys not walking any and picking up 3 foul ball strike outs.
Todd Kopec began his career in the Senior Circuit going 3 for 3 for the Pub while Dave Hammel and Keith Bender each added a pair of hits. Everyone’s favorite 90 year old, Rod Summerfeld, made three pop fly catches for outs and added a hard single.
