Tournament Notes:
Day One Report from Jim Black
Anyone who has followed the 74's during Fall Ball, knows we are notoriously slow starting team.
Our first game against the Ancient Mariners from Rainier Washington was not an exception!
We were down 12 to 0 after 4 complete innings  before we rallied for 5 runs of our own in the fifth.
Final score 17 to 5 for Rainier.
Our second game against Salt Lake  was a totally different game for the Huff and Puff.
No player batted less than 500 hundred! Defense stepped up for  3 double plays for a final score
of 22 to 12 in our favour.
Our final game of the preliminary round is at 9:50 tomorrow morning.

Day Two report from Jim Black
Today we played a team from Tulare California.
We lost 10 to 9 in what we all considered a really good game.We had timely hitting and good
defense. No one in the lineup went for less than 1/3 and we turned 2 timely double plays.
We now have to wait for the Metal Round schedule to see what Division they seed us in.

Day Three Report from Jim Black
Today we started the Medal Round of play by beating the Mississauga Legends by a score of
16 to 12. We had lots of timely hitting, highlighted by Howard Gehring's 3rd inside the park home
of the Tournament.
Our second game of the day was against a team we met for the first day of the Tournament, the
Ancient Mariners from Seattle and sadly the outcome was the same. Our hits could find no gaps
and their hits could find no gloves!! The final score was 18 to 4.
We are still alive and play at 8:30 tomorrow morning (ugh)Win that game and we are in the Medal
Round. The forecast for tomorrow morning is 50F and gale force winds.

Final  Report From Jim Black
Today we won the 8:30 against a team from Portland Oregon by a score of 16 to 4 and yes it
was 50F as forecast! We turned a couple of double plays and once again everyone batted 500 or
better.
HOWEVER, this was not the case in the 12:30 game against Mississauga Ontario,a team we
beat earlier in the tournament. We managed to get 2 runs across in the second inning and that
was it!
Over all, we gave it our best and for the first time together as a 74 team we did well and already
looking forward to next year's Huntsman Tournament.
