Game 1 - The first game of the night had the Cross Town Red Sox (or should i say) the Cross Town Cardiac Kids hosting Juggies Tap House Brewers. Yes, you read that correctly, the cardiac gang have struck again. This is their 5th come from behind win in a row! The game started out very politely with both teams taking the lead and then being polite said , “Ok, you guys can have it (the lead that is) back. You might be wondering (or maybe not) what is the key to our come back successes? Well it is very simple, KEY hitting, KEY defense , and KEY pitching! It also didn’t hurt that we had Glen “the gipper” Ebel on the bench again and yes he had his trusty crutches with him also. But, it may have been the coaches threat of doing something with a cattle prod to us that may have shocked us into scoring 5 in the bottom of the 7th inning to come away with a 15-14 victory. All Star performances from the Brewers were…Kasey Valkenburg 3/4, Blaine Lutz 3/4 (with a homer), Dieter Stanke 3/4 (with a homer), Jack Simons 3/4 (double, triple, and a homer), Jamie White 3/4, Dave Sawatzky 3/4, and Vern Herter 2/3. All Star performances for the Red Sox were…Larry “lead off” Hurrell 3/4, Derry “the sausage guy” Eresman 3/4, Boyd “boom boom” Hamm 4/4 (single, 2 doubles and 3 run homer), Todd “the machine” Kopec 4/4 (3 singles and a double), Lorne “quick feet” Knodel 4/4, Dan “seeing eye single” Hamilton 3/4, Terry “steady as they come” Tucker 2/3, Bill “no one knows how to pronounce my last name” Lapshinoff 2/3, and Harvey “coach “ Buye 2/2. Many thanks to the Rockies for cooking and rock solid umping.
