Our Scramble was all of that. With eight teams participating in two games each, and a delicious spread of meals from breakfast to a complimentary supper of beef on a bun, potato and dill pickle salads, chips, ice cream treats, and a section of beer/coolers, complemented by Phil Marleau’s music, which added to the great atmosphere.
Then you add in the baseball, gloves, bats, and seniors. Sounds like a hell of a lot of fun! Which it was! Where else can you start off your day with sunshine, smelling of coffee, bacon, eggs, toast for five bucks and cooked, served by Paul Savard, Doug Roberts and Rod Groves. Once they figured which way the knobs worked on the grill they were in business. Thanks to all the cooks including Howard Gehring,
At our age we can’t wait to play. So excited that sometimes we are not looking at obstacles when getting out of our vehicles to play. Unfortunately, we had one of our players trip over a post along side of the road when getting out of the vehicle. Resulting in a trip to the ER and a broken Clavicle (Collarbone). This is not the first time we have heard of incidents with these posts.
So please take extra time, caution when getting out of your vehicle when parking along the side where the post stick out about 2 feet.
Like any sport, you play professionally or just for fun, including baseball. The scores can be remarkably close or very widespread. Which we both had. There were some fantastic defensive plays in the field to some monster home runs and even a few strikeouts. It was all in great fun!!
Like to thank the hosts Redi Recycler’s Rockies, Copper Coulee Silver Foxes and Logo Rebels, players, spouses, press box staff and everyone else for the attendance in this year’s June Baseball Scramble.
