Game Report by Wayne Miller.

Game 3 - The final game of the evening saw Stewart Optical defeat the Redi Recylcers 20-9. The long ball and lots of walks with a slippery wet ball contributed to the big win. Kevin Lane had a big night going 4 for 4 with a pair of home runs while Jim Stewart and Darrell Bonogofsky hit one home run each. Chad Stahl and Fred Kelln both chipped in with a couple of hits.
For the Recyclers Kevin Friesen had three hits including an inside the park home run and Lorne Knodel added three singles.

August 9:
Game 1 - In the first game of the evening Stewart Optical scored five in the first and hung on to defeat The Garage Pub 11-6. The game was closer than the score indicated and if it weren’t for a few big defensive plays by the Eye Guys to end innings a few of the 12 runners left on base by the Pub would have scored to make the game closer. Once again the long ball benefited Stewart Optical as both Jim Stewart and Darrell Bonogofsky went deep. Paul Edmundson, Darrell Bonogofsky and Jeff Thompson all added three hits.
For the Pub Dean Roy and Larry Biko both reached base three times while Dave Hammel, Keith Bender and Doug Robert’s also picked up a pair of hits. The rain tried to keep the guys off the field but after a five minute delay in the second inning it cleared up enough to get the game in.

Game 2 - In the middle game the Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes took on the Mikes Meats Meateors with the Silver Foxes coming out on top by a 14-11 score. Despite the light rain and soggy field conditions the game was a hard fought and well played game by both teams. Leading the way for the Foxes was Glen Stodolka 3-4 double/Jake Thomas 3-4 double/Tim Seitz 3-4 singles and Randy Wuerfel with a 2 RBI inside the park homerun. For the Meateors Miles Mayer 3-3 2 doubles/Dale Haas 3-3 singles/Sub Garth Stark 2-3 2 run homer/double/Jeff Hall 2-3 solo homer.
Game Report By Randy Wuerfel

Game 3 - Cross Town Courier Red Sox and Elmer & Harold’s Astros played through some rain with the Astros coming away with the win. No injuries reported on either side despite the slick conditions.
Jim Fink led the Astros going 4/4 with 3 singles and a double. The Lutz boys and Robert Jensen were 3/4 with Keith hitting 2 home runs.
For the Red Sox, Jack Simons and Boyd Kosolofski were 3/3 on the night and Don Hallberg hit a home run.
Thanks to the umps and kitchen crew for doing a great job.

August 8:
Game 1 - The Station Coffee Long Shots had two injured players come back and made an instant impact in the win 13-5 over the Redi Recyclers on a hot summer night. Leading the way was Blair Hennes going 4-4 2 triples, 2 singles, 5 RBIs, Cal Mayer 3-3 double, 2 singles, John McFee 3-3 3 singles, Wayne Miller 3-4 2 doubles, single, RBI, Darrell Jesse  2-3 2 RBIs, Trent Rasch 2-3 RBI. For the Recyclers Kevin Friesen 2-3 double, single, Darcy Harty 2-3 2-3, 2 singles, David Camphor 2-3 double, single RBI. Winning pitcher Bruce Stuber and taking the loss was Jim Larson.

Game 2 - Back to back nights as the stars aligned for the Juggies Brewers. The Brewers scored 18 runs while continuing  hitting the long ball with another 4 over the fence. Leading the way on the offensive was winning pitcher Blaine Lutz, 3rd base Kasey Valkenburg both 4-4 at the plate. Dale Wood was 3 for 3. Solid defensive plays by Glen Ebel and a fantastic catch by Jim Cooper to  hold the Mavericks of the score board after 6 innings. It took till top half of the seventh inning when Norm Emann laced a double down the left field line. That started the rally, unfortunately could only mustered up 2 runs for the Mav's. Like to thank again the Garage Pub for burgers and umpiring duties, along with Randy, Darlene in the upper deck and Jack Ward for filling in both nights for our 4 missing players.

Game 3 - The third game of the night featured 2 teams that were on a bit of slide and were struggling offensively. The fans that came out got just what they expected. To say it woulda been more exciting to watch Norms freshly painted bleachers dry is an understatement.
The Logos Rebels jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Meanwhile the Lakers seemed to be holding their bats on the wrong end and were totally scoreless in the first 3 frames. They finally caught fire in the 4th putting up the league mandated maximum 5 runs. The Rebels responded with a single in the bottom of the inning then scored 2 more in 6 to knot the score at a whopping 5. Yes folks, the score was 5-5 in the 6th inning in a game that the pitchers throw underhand at about 2.35 miles per hour. Anyway back to the wild affair. The Sauer RV Storage Lakers pushed one across in the bottom of the 6th on an RBI single from Esther, Alberta’s own Mike Shantz. The Rebels threatened in the top of 7 with Guitar Strumin’ Phil Marleau’s single but couldn’t get him around the 280’ diamond to tie the score. Make the final: Lakers 6 Rebels 5. Garth “Atron” Stark hit an earlier dinger for the Rebels and the Moch brothers each chipped in with 2 hits a piece. For the Lakers the ever steady copper top Kochy had 3 hits while Huggy Hamstring Scherger chipped in with 2. The AED certainly wasn’t needed tonight as the only excitement was in the 5th inning when someone turned on the demisters in the Lakers dugout. Next action is Thursday 5:30 for the RV Storage squad.

August 7:
Game 1 - On another warm night, the Red Sox took on the Silver Foxes. It was a close fought affair till the Red Sox broke it open and the final score was Red Sox 17 and the Silver Foxes 11. Strong hitting by all the Red Sox hitters and a strong defensive performance helped in the win. Derry Eresman, Ken Kallis had 4-4 nights. Darrel Maser made an outstanding catch in the outfield to preserve the victory. For the Silver Foxes Kerry Buss had 2 home runs and Glenn Stodolka had one in a losing cause.
Game Report By Bob Marfleet

Game 2 - Beautiful night at the Lorne Holden Park. It was home run night for Juggie's Tap House & Grill with 8 home runs that completed the game 20-2 over the Logo Rebels. Doug Davis was 3-3 for the Rebels. However not enough for 8 home runs from the Tap House Boys. Blaine Lutz & Dieter Stanke led the way with 3 home runs each. While Kasey Valkenburg and Al Martens added 1 each. Garth Burton also was 4-4 at the plate.
Thanks to the Garage Pub boys for the great burgers & umpiring duties.
Game Report By Darryll Bartman

Game 3 - The game between Mike’s Meats Meateors and Elmer & Harold’s came down to a pitching duel between Jim Fink and Tom Baker. There were many hits and many good plays by both teams, but the one everyone is going to talk about over coffee is the great catch in left field extending his limits flying in the air by Dan Rattai making the 3rd out saving a few runs. Elmer & Harold’s were lead by 4 players with 2/3 night and for the Mike’s Meats was Jim Dulle went 3/3 night. Due to the good pitching the final score was won by Mike Meat’s Meateors 6-4
Darryl Bartman was instrumental for the win for the Mike’s Meats win in the field.
