Tournament Wrap Up:
Greeting Y'All from sunny, hot Mesquite NV. It's Thanksgiving Sunday morning, and the 65's have wrapped up our 5 games in the much smaller Mesquite Sr. Games with a record of 1-4.
Our first game, we got blown out by a very strong SoCal team (who won the gold), 17-2. Second game, we lost 9-8 in an extra inning to the Sun City Rockets, AZ. Third game we won, I think 17-5 or so to the Mesquite Legends (and they were Legends). They never won a game, but seemed to be having lots of fun.
On to Saturday: we lost to Silver Stix, a team from Toronto, or some far-off place like that in OT. The score was something like 13-9. Then, our last game we lost to Cascade Thunder from Bend, OR., a close game, but I can't remember the score. It was hot and we were getting a little groggy. Time to find some shade and have a cool and delicious refreshment, then watch the 60's.
So, we were competitive in 4 out our 5 games, but just didn't seem to hit consistently. Oh well, it was a warm-up for the Huntsman. The same thing happened to us here last year, then we got hot in St. George. We did have a good laugh coming down, when one of our vehicles hit a fork in the road at Butte, and decided to take the right turn instead of the left. When they finally came out of their comatose state, they were in Missoula. They looked at each other in their usual puzzled manner and asked each other, WHY ARE WE IN MISSOULA?? Anyway, they arrived in Ogden for the night - 4 hours later than the rest of us. They might hear about that one for a while. All good.
Off to watch the 60's play this morning, then heading to St George to start play tomorrow. Will keep you posted. Take care everyone, and HAPPY CANADIAN THANKSGIVING TO Y'ALL,, EH!!
