July 19 - 22 Scores and Hi-Lites

July 22:
   Game 1:
Scott Goldade, Kevin Friesen and Kevin Lane all had four hits while Kevin Lane and Gerry Harpell hit two run homers as the Redi Recyclers doubled up on the Garage Pub 18-9. Report Kevin Friesen
   Game 2:
Another great win for the eye guys. Everyone hit well. Jim Stewart must have had a sore knee because he didn’t want to run the bases. 7 RBI's with 2 HRs and likely had a few more with his  other two hits. Sherwin Lehman pulled into a tie for second on the team in home runs. Playing as a 75 year old. What a achievement!!  He had a great night at the plate.
What about FREDDIE BOHNETT!!!!  He wore his new glasses from Stewart Optical and walked 3 times and hardly walked a batter. If you want to get your on base percentage up, Contact Stewart Optical and ask for Jim.
Clint Phaff and Bruce Smith had solid nights at the plate for the brewers. Report Randy Biko
   Game 3:
The Canadian energy Lakers came away with a 13 to 12 victory over the Station Coffee by the skin of their teeth. Great support from our 4 subs was instrumental in the victory. Rob fisher was a busy rover covering the middle ground between home plate and the fall ball poles. Thanks goes out to Jim Stewart, Jim Black, Sherwin Lehman and Andy Christie. Report Curtis Scherger

July 21:
   Game 1:
Kevin Lane hit a three run homer and Scott Goldade, Terry Tucker and Gerry Harpell all had three hits as Redi Recyclers doubled the Logos Grebels 12-6. Report Kevin Friesen
   Game 2:
E&H boys had their second solid night of the week. Led again by rookie Kelly Martin , with a grand slam & crucial double play with bases loaded with one out in the top half of the fourth inning. Whiskey Jacks had a five-run inning in the fifth inning. In the bottom half of the sixth Barry Koch hit a 2 run long ball out of the park home run to make a 5-run inning for E&H. Randy Kambeitz hit a line shot hitting the steel upright of the scoreboard in left field for a 2-run home run for the Jacks. That was as close as they got as E&H held on to the 14-8 win. Thanks to the Elements for cooking the great league burgers and providing the umpires. Also, to Bob & Joe upstairs running the score clock and broadcasting the games tonight. Report Darryl Bartman
   Game 3:
On a warm humid night it was a hard fought battle between the Red Sox and the Mavericks. Coming down to the last at bats for the Red Sox they pulled off a 9-8 victory. Rick Parker hit a 2 run homer for the Mavericks. Report Robert Marfleet

July 20:
   Game 1:

   Game2:
On a warm humid night the Red Sox put a great game together.  With excellent pitching fielding & hitting the Red Sox defeated the Garage Pub 13-1. Report by Rob Marfleet
   Game 3:
The Logos Rebels and Elements squad had a fun night with Elements hanging on to a 13-5 win.
Nothing fancy, but Rod Insko and Doug Roberts went 3-3 and Jack Simons is starting to find his stride at the plate. Solid defensive play by John Engle and stellar pitching by Sam Montoya led the way for the Elements. The Moch trio led the way with strong pitching and defence for the Logos side.
Lutz Perchon and Scotty Goldade called a great game and kept the pace of play active.
Thanks again for a great nite at the ballpark. Report Tim Seitz

July 19:
   Game 1:
Another great win for the eye guys. 3 wins in 4 games. Finally back to a 500  record.
Stewart chased the kids out of the creek with a 3 RBI monster blast.
Freddie lowered his era giving up 4 runs in a complete game.  Not bad for a 82 year old. We gave the closer another days rest.
Plays of the game
Dave Sawatskis’ play at 3rd where the ball was hit hard down the line and he made a great grab and throw to Rob ( I robbed Hubbich out of a hit with my slow speed) Klien  for the out. Tim Seitz made a great throw.
Mike Shantz made a TESTICULAR  play at first without a protective cup for the catch.
Rod Insko held the optical squad to 8 runs which normally wins games.
Another great umpiring job and play by play upstairs and score keeping ( Thank you )
Report Randy Biko

Game 2:
The second game of the night had E&H visiting the hometown Canadian Energy Lakers.
The Lakers came up hitting the ball hard, however E&H matched it with their best defensive game of the year. Between steady pitching from Kelly Lutz, 3 great catches by rover Jake Thomas in the field, and 2 huge double plays by newcomer third baseman Kelly Martin.
At the plate it was Darcy Hardy doing some of the damage going  3-3 at the plate and Kelly Lutz 3 run home run, clinched the 7-2 victory for E&H boys.
Report Darryl Bartman

Game 3:
Well, the Trackside IPA's finally woke up after only scoring total of 1 run in our last 2 games (no, really) and went on to beat the Southridge Wine & Whiskey boys by a score of 13-5.
It was a battle of the liquor stores, and we got off to a strong start and never looked back. Perry Nurse and Blaine Lutz combined for a strong outing on the mound, and our offense finally got on track. Kent Strudwick has been our most consistent hitter all year, and he continues to swing the hot bat after battling some health issues the past couple years. Good defense helps against a team that has some firepower. Thanks to Lutz and Al for handling the umpiring duties, Darlene for pushing all the right buttons, and Golden Throat, Truman Bartman for being wonderful volunteers in the booth.
