Final Report:
Well this is my final report for the H&P 74’s as the Fat Lady has sung. We faced PALS (with players from all over the States) today and lost 12-7. We hit a little better than yesterday but still came up short. A big thank you to Keith Bender for his organizing and coaching, to Betty Lutz for scorekeeping and to all the guys for their effort.

Day Three Report:
H&P 74 were seeded in the A division for the playoffs after pool play, well above where we thought we should be. So today we faced the Ancient Mariners, also from Washington State. As a team we only managed 16 hits over 5 innings and were mercied 18-4. You know what they say, “What happens at Canyons, stays at Canyons”. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s action.

Day Two Report:
First of all apologies to Terry Tucker who also hit a triple yesterday. Today’s game was not the outcome the H&P were looking for falling 15-20 to Northwest Silver from Washington State. Again the team gave it their best with triples contributed by Russ Cameron, Keith Bender and Terry Tucker and 2 doubles from Sherwin Lehman. Now we await our seeding for the playoffs.

Day One Report:
First day of the round robin saw the MH H&P take on the Enforcers 74 from near Lake Tahoe. Enforcers jumped out to an early lead scoring 3 in the 1st. H&P answered with 3 of their own. Enforcers held H&P off the score sheet for the next 3 innings while they scored 7 more runs. In the bottom of the 5th, H&P scored 5 to make the score 10-8 in favor of the Enforcers. 6 was the open inning, Enforcers were held to no runs while H&P scored 3 to win 11-10. Notables for game 1: great pitching from Vern Herter, an in the park homer by Sherwin Lehman and a towering drive by Harold Enslen to bring in the winning run. All team members contributed in some way to this success.
In game 2 we faced the Michigan 74’s who just came off a 3 extra inning win. Michigan seemed to score at will getting 15 runs over 5 innings while holding H&P scoreless for 2 innings. We finally broke the goose egg with 4 in the 3rd and 4th making the score 12-8 for Michigan. The 5th inning was open and in the top H&P erupted for 13 runs, then holding Michigan to 3 for a 21-15 win. Joe Steinbacher pitched a great game, Lutz Pershon hit a triple and Sherwin Lehman hit his 2nd in the park homer in as many games. Kudos to the entire team for a well played game.
