Another beautiful Saturday and another successful Scramble. A big thanks to everyone involved in our latest Scramble, Breakfast, Lunch and Supper, it turned out to be a huge success. You can’t run an event like this without the help and support of a bunch of people and I’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge some of them. There were so many people that contributed and I’m sure I’ll miss a bunch of them, but a big thanks goes to Derry, Harvey and the Red Sox team, Bill, Keith and the E&H team and the guys from the Stewart Optical team. Thanks to Randy for coordinating the scorers and announcers for the event and to all those that kept score and kept us informed. Thanks to the breakfast bunch with Chad, Al and Bruce. Thanks to those that looked after the burgers and beer throughout the day; to the wives that helped in the kitchen covering up for us and straightening things out.
We tried a few new things including a home run contest and a big thanks to the participants, the pitchers and the guys that shagged flies. Congratulations to Johnny “Launch” Engel for winning the contest and to Chad for donating the much sought after “grand prize”.
A big thank you to Byron and Brian for looking after so many things including set up and clean up and the corn cooking so Chad could focus his immense talents on his famous Caesar salad. Thanks to Jim and Al (actually their wives) for looking after the roast beef and as always thanks to everyone for chipping in with husking the corn, setting up and cleaning up. I’m impressed with the people in our league that didn't even play that showed up to help, guys like Perry and Hugh and Bruce. Thanks to some of the new players in the league like Bill and Byron that stepped right in and worked like seasoned veterans. It’s always great to see new enthusiasm.
A big thanks to Rob for providing some great entertainment and for keeping the rowdy bunch in check, never an easy task.
Events like this just don’t happen on their own, it takes a ton of people.
I’m already looking forward to the next one.
