Aug 23 - Aug 26 Scores and Hi-Lites

Aug 26:
   Game 1:
The night was a defensive battle, with the Station Coffee Long Shots pulling out a 6 - 2 win over the Element's. Blair Hennes went 2 for 3 with a RBI home run. Wayne Miller went 3 for 3. Great catches on defense by both teams. Jim Dulle was the winning pitcher.
Report Wayne Miller.
   Game 2:
Stewart Optical vs Southridge Wine and Whiskey:
The night started out well for  Joe Steinbacker.  One up and one out, then Stewy  was up next and
he launched a missile over the trees.
The Eye Guys came away with a 10- 1 victory.
Zeller got the wheels turning with a couple of doubles. Some of the big hitters were Hubich, Sawatski, Rattai, Maginnes, Zeller, Lehman, Shantz and Bonagofski, all with a couple of hits.
MVPs of the game go to  James Bonagofski, who gave up 1 run and led the hitting parade, and Dan Rattai.
“Who said big boys can’t fly”.  Leading 10-1 and  the Whiskey Boys involved in the  flip , they hit a ball to left and here comes Rats flying through the air to make the catch. WOW!!  It may be the nicest catch of the year but I’m not sure if he’ll try that again, especially  in senior ball.
Injuries tonight were Rats landing awkwardly on his shoulder after that magnificent catch, and Shantz pulling a calf muscle while  (walking) to 3rd.  Shantz, being new to the league, has had injuries in both calves and a hamstring in his rookie year. You have to be tough to play senior ball!
Bender and Gutfriend hit well for the Boozers. They were missing 3 of their top players and playing one man short.
Report Randy Biko
   Game 3:
Well the garage pub came to play tonight. Our local bone crusher, Jeff Hall, had one heck of a game with a grand slam home run, a 3 run homer, and a inside the park home run. FINAL SCORE 13 to 9 for the Pub. Kerry Buss had a grand slam and a single home run for the logos. Hats off to the Maverick crew for doing an excellent job In the kitchen and on the field. Same with the people in the crows nest.

Aug 25:
   Game 1:
Station Coffee Long Shots rolled up their 3rd win with a 10 - 5 victory over Southridge Wine & Whiskey. Leading the way was Robert Jensen with a 3 run home run. Lorne Knodel went 2 for 3, with a double and triple. Jerry Wittke, and Jim Dulle teamed up for the win.
Report Wayne Miller
   Game 2:
For the second night in a row, Al Martens had a big game at the plate for the Redi Recyclers. He had a grand slam and added a two run homer as the Recyclers defeated the Canadian Energy Lakers 10-7.
Report Kevin Friesen
   Game 3:
Another hard fought battle on the diamond tonight as the Red Sox and the Trackside IPA went at it. Blaine Lutz hit a homer for the IPAs, but despite that the Red Sox went on to a 11-8 victory.
Report Robert Marfleet

Aug 24:
   Game 1:
The home team, Trackside Liquor Store IPA's defeated the visiting Canadian Energy Lakers by a score of 14-6. Both teams were ready to go early, 5:10 or so, Larry & Darlene were waiting in anticipation in the booth, and the Southridge Wine & Whiskey boys had the grill fired up and ready for the night. Weather co-operated and we played our 6 innings in good time. We had 2 super subs tonight, Al Dyck did a superb job on the mound and Barry Koch played solid OF and hit a 2 run dinger in the 2nd. The Lakers had 3 super subs, Stan Rath, Darrell Maser, and Jake Thomas. Thanks to all 5 subs for helping out for both teams. Report Jamie White
   Game 2:
Elmer & Harold's and the Red Sox met on a cool night. It was a tight game with the Red Sox coming away with a 8-5 win. Kelly Lutz hit a homer for Elmer & Harold's. Report Rob Marfleet
   Game 3:
Al Martens hit a pair of three run home runs as the Redi Recyclers defeated the Morrison Health Mavericks 10-7. Al Dyck had three hits for the Recyclers. Dave Hammel had a three run homer for the Mavs. Report Kevin Friesen

Aug 23:
   Game 1:
      Stewart Optical vs Logos:
Finally back in the win column. Stewart optical snuck out a 10 – 5 victory. Rats was the big hitter going 3 for 3 ( Did I tell you he’s my cousin). His parents were there to watch but they weren’t sure if Dan  was coming. The last game they came to watch at  6:30  and we played at 5:30.
He finally showed up and put on a hitting clinic. Logos led 5-3 after 5 with one inning to play.
The bats came alive in the 6th and we scored 7 runs. I feel for Harvey Moch.  He fed Stewy  a ball 2 feet short of the plate and Jim put it in the funeral burial ground.  Hubich, Stewart, Lehman, Sawatski and Biko all had 2 hits. Fred Bohnett pitched another gem.
Brian Hoffner, with his first game back, was 3 for 3. He had a couple of “no see with your eyes” hits. ( sun valley)
Special thanks goes to Bender and Deibert for a fine job umping , Truman and Darlene Black for announcing and score keeping, and Wine and Whiskey boys for sausage roasters. The next time you see Darlene, say “thank you” as she devotes so much time to keeping score.
The big winner of the night is Delvin Moch as he is celebrating his 58 birthday.  Thanks for the cupcakes! Report Randy Biko
   Game 2:
The Morrison Health Mavericks only sent 24 batters to the plate, but managed to outlast Elmer & Harold's 6 - 3. Both teams scored in only 2 innings during the 6 inning game. The middle of the order for the Mavs scored all 6 runs while a 2 run homer by Kelly Lutz late in the game accounted for the bulk of the offense for Elmer & Harold's. Report Norm Emann.
   Game 3:
Well the Garage Pub took out their frustrations on the Elements 20 to 3. The Pub had a total team effort with everybody contributing and doing one of the rare things in senior softball playing errorless ball. Report Larry Biko
