July 11:
Game 1 - Well, once again, it was a hot summer night, literally. Driving to the ballpark late afternoon, my car said 38 degrees, which, if you do the math, is 100 F. That's hot!! Good thing we are a bunch of finely tuned athletes...
I forgot to get the score sheet after the game, but Juggies TapHouse Brewers had a great game against the Cross Town Red Sox, 14-14. It was a pretty hum-drum affair for the first 6 innings, The Red Sox leading 9-8 after 6, and then the open inning became fun. The Sox scored 5 runs with 2 out in the top of the 7th. Not to be out done, the Brewers score 6 with 2 out in the bottom. Crazy finish. Good times. Like I said, I forgot to get the scoresheet, but everyone contributed to a fun game. Thanks to the E & H crew for toughing it out in a hot kitchen and on the diamond. And to Stan & Garry upstairs in the Muppet Show balcony.

Game 2 - What a wild, strange game between the Redi Recycle Rockies and the Sauer RV Storage Lakers. Lakers pitcher Wild Broesky kept the Rockies off the scoreboard for six innings. Trailing 6-0 going into the top of the seventh inning, Redi erupted for eights runs taking a two run lead into the bottom half. The Lakers scored twice, resulting in an 8-8 tie. Jim Larson pitched for Redi. Keith Kleckner and Gord Moore had three hits for the Lakers. Kevin Friesen had four hits for the Rockies.

Game 3 - On a night where both teams were missing some big dogs, it was time for the little dogs to pick up the slack. The Meateor crew crushed the ball including three off the fence that gave the eye guys fits. Stewies crew hit it hard as well but the little dogs were catching everything. On what was the most humid night of the season we were all glad to hit the beer benches.

July 10:
Game 1 - The Redi Recycle Rockies jumped out quickly, scoring 10 runs in the first two innings. But it took a Rod Sommerfeld ground out in the bottom of the open inning, scoring Philippe Marleau from third giving the Rockies a 12-11 walk off victory over the Morrison Health Mavericks. The Mavericks never gave up actually leading at one time late in the game. Al Martens, Larry Biko and Rod Groves all had three hits for Redi. Garth Stark and Jeff Hall had a pair of hits for the Mavs. Larry Biko picked up the win on the mound, Rod Insko took the loss.

Game 2 - On a hot summer night, would you offer the last inning heroics to the Logos Rebels with Red Roses (Meatloaf)? Yes. I bet you would say that to all the fans. That was part of the theme of the Sauer RV Storage Lakers come from behind win over the Logos Rebels. The Lakers would take a 1-0 lead after the first inning. The Logos Rebels, that they are, came back with 5 runs in the second inning on RBI’s from Mike Sills (2/3), Andy Christie (3/3), Roland Schlenker and Darryl Bartman. The Logos Rebels scored 1 run in the 3rd, 4th and 6th inning while the Sauer RV Storage lakers 1 run in the 5th and 6th to make the score 8-3 for the Logos Rebels. The Lakers wanted to be Rebels themselves and scored 6 runs in the top of the 7th to make it a 9-8 score for the Sauer RV Storage Lakers over the Logos Rebels. In the bottom of the 7th with 2 out and the tying run on first base, Roland Schlenker hit a sinking fly ball to right field in the glaring sun, in front of a diving Good Bell, who made a spectacular catch to end the hot hopes of the Logos Rebels. Highlights for the Logos Rebels were Andy Christie (3/3), Fred Kevin (2/2), Chris Wandler and Mike Sills both (2/3). The highlights for the Sauer RV Storage Lakers was Darrin Heinze (3/4) and Wilf Broesky, Lutz Perschon, Ken Zolner going 2/3. The winning run came off a line drive by Clint Kleckner that almost made it to 3rd base, to allow NO STOP, GOING ALL THE WAY, Kochy to score from 3rd. On a hot summer night would you offer the Umps, Cooks and Scorekeepers to the Wolf with the Red Roses? NO and I bet, I would say that to all the teams.

July 9:
Game 1 - In a game that nobody seemed interested in winning, the meatboys had a come from behind 8-4 victory. Each team had a sparse 12 hits and the score was 2-1 Meateors going into bottom of 6. Coffee lads put up 3 in the bottom of sixth to lead 4-2, but Mikes put up a six spot in top of seven and held on. Trent Rasch and Grant Mackay had perfect nights for Station while Tim Johnson and Ron Stubbs did the same for the Meateors, beautiful night at the park, thanks to Jeff and Darlene in the the booth and the Redi crew cooking and calling balls and strikes

Game 3 - In the last game, on the nicest night of the summer so far. The E&H Glass boys hosted the Logos Rebels in another barn burner. The visiting Rebels scored 4 runs in their top of the first inning to take a 4-run lead. With hometown Astros replying with 2 of their own. After 3 complete it was knotted up at 5-5 and remained that for the next 2 innings. Both scored 2 runs each in the 6th and scoreless in the seventh to sawed it of at sevens.
For the Rebels it was Chris Wandler 3-3 with a double, Danny Stevenson, Sherwin Lehman, and Larry Rudolph with a pair of hits each. Great defensive plays by Chris Wandler, Paul Savard and Ken Wou with the final out of the game to keep the scored tied.

Thanks to the Redi Recycler’s boys and to Darlene & Jeff in the upper deck office.

July 8:
Game 1 - It was a hot summer night at Lorne Holden's Field of Dreams tonight, with the visiting Juggies TapHouse Brewers challenging the home team, Elmer & Harold's Astros. The Brewers prevailed in this one, 9-4, kind of a quiet, defensive struggle, lots of good plays in the outfield and not a lot of hitting. Good pitching by Perry Nurse and Vern Herter. I think the Astros had visions of their pizza party after the game, so they didn't want the food to get cold. The Brewers did just enough to get the victory, Kasey Valkenburg, 4-4, Pierre Cote and Dieter Stanke, both 3-4 and Blaine Lutz was 2-4 with a 3 RBI HR in the 3rd that got things kinda started for us. The Astros all stars were Frank Merkl and Keith Lutz, both 2-2, each had a BB. Thanks to the Redi manpower crew tonight and the Black's in the press box.

Game 2 - The second game of this beautiful evening saw the Morrison Health Mavericks defeat the Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes 16 to 8. It wasn’t a defensive gem as both teams had a few blunders throughout the game which proved to be entertaining for the fans.
Offensively for the Mavericks Leon Moch was 4 for 4 with a double, Greg Scot was 3 for 3, Bill Martin, Kerry Schentag, Jeff Hall, Garth Stark, & Delvin Moch all went 3 for 4 and John Unreiner was 2 for 3. For the Silver Foxes Wade Watson was 4 for 4 with a double, Don Hallberg went 3 for 3 with a double and Boyd Kosolofski, Darren Emerson & Sam Montoya were all 2 for 3.
Thanks to all the volunteers for providing another great evening for ball at Lorne Holden Field.
Game Report By Delvin Moch
Game 3 - The defense came up big tonight for Stewart Optical as they held the Garage Pub to 4 runs and a well rounded offence scored 15 as the Eye Guys came away with a 15-4 victory. Bruce Stuber was tough on the mound and he benefited from a number of big defensive plays behind him. Dan Rattai les the Optical boys going 4 for 4 while Doug Davies, Russ Cameron, John Engel, Tom Baker and Jeff Thompson all added three hits and Bill Rothwell flexed a little muscle hitting one off the fence and one over. For the Pub there were a lot of base runners but they couldn’t quite come up with the big hit at the right time to score a few more runs. Tim Seitz and Ken Kallis were the only Pub players to get two hits on what was a cooler night for their bats. It was a beautiful night, the umpires calls were right on and the burgers smelled as good as they tasted. How do you beat it?
