July 15 - July 18 Scores and Hi-Lites

July 18:
Game 1 - Another hot humid night at LHF featured the Sauer RV Storage Lakers VS Juggies Tap House and Grill Brewers. The game started on time even though a few players from both teams were waiting for the frost to come off the glasses. The game score was 2-1 for the Sauer RV Sauer Storage Lakers after 3 innings, 8-5 for the Sauer RV Sauer Storage Lakers after 5 innings and 13-9 for the Sauer RV Storage Lakers over the Juggies Tap House and Grill Brewers. The TSN turning point came in the 5th inning with Juggies already adding 3 runs to their total, with 2 out, Jack Simmons hit a line drive over the third baseman which was gobbled up by Steedy Eddy Maser in left field who through it to the cut off who was the lonely SS, who then through it home where Catfish Ken six toes Zolner had to stretch to his left while keeping all six toes on the plate to make the 3rd and final out of the inning. As for another quote from one of Meat Loafs Favorites, The coach should have said “STOP RIGHT THERE, DON’T YOU GO ANY FURTHER”.
Highlights for Juggies Tap House and Grill Brewers was a 4-4 night Casey up to bat Valkenburg, Jack Red Shoes Simons 3-4 and Pierre no worries in the world Cote, Paul Edmondson, Vern Herter and Hugh post to post English going 2-3.
Highlights for the Sauer RV Storage Lakers was Darrel Prairie Oyster Maser going 3-3, Barry now you see it now you don’t Koch 3-4 with a HR, Kevin Stern Owner Sauer and Curtis Huggy Scherger going 3-4 and Gord, still signing autographs Moore going 2-3. The winning pitcher for the RV Sauer Lakers was Gerard Clement Hittel who kept the Juggies Tap House and Grill Brewers on tap and cooled off for most of the game. Thanks again for the umps, Cooks and score keeps for keeping everything on Tap.

Game 2 - In the middle frame, the Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes took on the eye guys Stewart Optical and came away with a hard fought 8-4 victory. It was a real pitchers duel with both teams playing tight defense and runs hard to come by. The Silver Foxes took a 3-1 lead in the 2nd inning and held the lead for the rest of the game which included a 5 spot in the 5th inning. Leading the way for the Foxes were Jake Thomas 3-3/singles/Boyd Kosolofski 2-3/singles+walk/Randy Wuerfel 2-3/singles/ Bob Marfleet 2-3/singles. For the eye guys John Engel 2-3/double/Greg Scott 3-3/singles/Tom Baker 2-3/singles. Winning pitcher Doug Roberts while super sub Rob Price took the loss.
Game Report by Randy Wuerfel

Game 3 - The delivery guys got off to a good start grabbing two in the top of the 1st, which would have been worse except for Brian “Coondogs” great running grab. In the bottom of one Meateors struck back with 3 thanks to hitman Haas’s two run single. The Meateors-ballers never looked back on their way to a 13-8 victory. Derrie”ageless” Eresman cranked the ball all night including inside the fence homer and made a great run saving grab. Subs Brian C, Kasey V and Tim S were all key in the win.

July 17:
Game 1 - On another warm evening at the ball park Stewart Optical and the Morrison Mavericks played to a 16-16 sister kisser draw. The Eye Guys got 4 in the top of the 6th and final to tie, but the Mavericks couldn’t find the hits in the home half to pull ahead. On the Stewart side John Engel went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles. Bruce Stuber went 4/4 with singles and Tom Baker and Doug Davies went 3/4 with 3 singles each. On the Maverick side Leon Moch and Todd Ammann were 4 for 4 with Garth Stark, Darcy Harty and John Unreiner going 3/4. Thanks to Logos for the spectacular job of umpiring and keeping the fans and players well fed.

Game 2 - By holding Mike's Meats Meateors off the scoreboard over four straight innings the Garage Pub won game two by a 14 to 8 count. For the second game in a row the Pub turned two double plays,  including the game ender, to secure the win.
Offensively Mike Ferre, for the Pub, reached first four consecutive times and scored on each occasion. Kerry Buss also went four for four while driving in five runs.
Dale Weisgerber of the Meateors smacked out four hits and scored twice.

Game 2 - A very close 2nd game tonight at the Field of Dreams, Juggies TapHouse Brewers defeating Redi Recycle Rockies, 15-13. Score was close, hits were close, Brewers 23, Rockies 21, pitching was good, Jim Larson and Vern Herter. The basic difference in the game may have been Dieter Stanke's over-the-shoulder catch at the LCF fence off of Rick Parker's bat for the 3rd out of the 5th that probably saved the game for the Brewers. That may have been the highlight catch of the year. Some good hitters tonight: for the Rockies - Keith Bender, Darrell Boechler, Rod Groves, Jim Larson and the ageless Howard Gehring, all had 3 hits. For the Brewers - Todd Toews, Kasey Valkenburg, Dieter Stanke (1 2B and 2 3B), Dale Deis, Pierre Cote and Jamie White, all 3 hits. This game could have easily gone either way. Much fun. Thanks to the Stuey Boys for their hard work tonight, and Beek and Darlene upstairs.

Game 3 - In a hard fought nail biter game the Garage Pub Fog out dueled the Logos Rebels by a 7 - 6 score. The outcome of the game was in doubt to the very end as the Rebels fought from three runs down in their final at bat. David Camphor smacked a clean single to score a deuce but was stranded on first as the game concluded.
The Fog scored four in the top of the first but needed an RBI by Daryl Hubich in the seventh to secure the win. Rob Price went the distance on the mound for the Fog and clubbed in two runs. Fred Kelln, the Burstall Bullet, was almost as stingy for the Rebels but took the loss.

July 15:
Game 1 - Elmer & Harold’s Astros came away with a 14 - 6 win over the Redi Recycle Rockies on a beautiful sunny, calm evening. For the Astros, Frank Merkl was 4/4, Perry Nurse was 3/3 and Chad Stahl was 2/2 with a sacrifice fly. For the Rockies, Al Martens was 2/2 with a triple, a double and a walk and Rick Parker was 2/2 with a sacrifice fly. No home runs tonight. Jim Black was happy he wore his shin guards as he took a ball off the pads and the smack was heard by even those not wearing their hearing aids.
Game Report By Bill Ramage

Game 2 - On a beautiful night, the middle game had Logos Rebels visiting the Cross Town Red Sox. Both Teams scored 4 runs in each of their half of the first inning. The Rebels took the lead after 3 complete by a score of 8-7. That’s all the Rebels could mustard up. With a 6th inning rally the Red Sox scored 4 to a 12-8 victory.
For the Rebels they had 6 different players that a pair of hits each. For the Red Sox it was led by Larry Hurrell with 2 doubles and a pair of singles, along with some great defences plays in right field. Derry Eresman, Leroy Friesen and Todd Kopec had 3 hits each. With Todd hitting a 2-run homer in the 6th inning rally.
Thanks to the Eye Guys for the kitchen and umpiring duties and to Darlene & Randy in the upper deck office with the score keeping and announcing.
Game Report By Harvey Buye

Game 3 - The last game of the night wasn’t a thriller by no means, but it was almost close enough to call it a tie, but fortunately enough for the Sauer RV Storage Lakers they had one more run than the Morrison Mavericks. The Morrison Mavericks scored 4 in the 4th inning and 2 in the 7th for their 6 runs while the The Sauer RV Storage Lakers scored 5 runs in the first inning, 1 in the 5th and one in the 6th to earn them at 7 to 6 victory. The only advantage of playing the 3rd game of the night is that the right fielder could take off his welding glasses. Highlights for the Morrison Mavericks was a 3/3 with 3 runs for Kerry the one arm bandit Schentag, 2/3 for the coolest guy on their team, Garth Atron Stark, and a 2/4 night for Gerry white shoes Fauth. The highlights for the Sauer RV Storage Lakers was Speedy Brian Coondog and Darren busybody Heinz going 3/3 both with 1 RBI, Barry Koch going 2/3 with 2 RBI’s and Kevin Sauer going 2/3 with 1 RBI. There however was one controversy play of the game that saw a line drive off the bat of Leon Moch, that hit the base umpire in the hand close to his head, in which time was called immediately. The talk after the game with a few root beer and peanuts under a few players belts was that the second baseman could have caught the line drive which was disputed by the Mavericks. The Paul Harvey side of things was that if the play would have kept going, there would have been a double play. Paul Harvey, Good Day.
Special thanks to the awesome cooks, the score keepers and for the quick reaction ump on the bases and the home plate ump who was distracted by the smell of the fresh onions and Burgers.
