May 13 - 16 Schedule and Results

May 16:
All Games were cancelled, Not Played, due to the Conquer The Coulee Event.

May 15:
Game 1 - Mikes meats put together an error free night to squeak by the Redi recyclers 14-7. Kelly Martin led the way with a 3 for 3, 4 RBI night and Paul King chipped in 4 hits. The Recyclers got big nights from Rick Parker with two long ones and Kevin Friesen had a couple triples. Lights out Jim Fink got the win while Jim Larson took the loss
Great night for ball and  thanks to Station Coffee for burger and ump duties.

Game 2 - A very close game for our 2nd game of the night, with Juggies TapHouse Brewers outlasting the Logos Rebels, 13-10. The Brewers started out hot, scoring 8 runs in the first 3 innings, cooled off a bit, then scored 5 in the 6th, for a total of 13 runs. The Logos struggled to score in the 1st 5 innings, then got hot in the 6th and 7th, to make the game close. A close play at the plate for our 3rd out in the 7th finally snuffled out the rally. Both teams were very close in hits, 21 hits for Logos and 22 for Juggies. Leading hitters for the Rebels were Ron Jarvis, Chris Wandler and Pudge Bartman, all with 3 hits. Danny Stevenson had a HR in the 2nd inning. Players with 3 hit nights for the Brewers were Dieter Stanke, Blaine Lutz, Jamie White and Todd Toews. Todd also made his debut in the OF, playing LF, and made a couple outstanding catches to keep us in the game. A good game by 2 very evenly matched teams. Thanks to the Station boys for umping and serving up our feast for the night, and too Randy and Gary in the press box.

Game 3 - Elmer & Harold’s pulled off a 18 - 6 win over the Garage Pub & Eatery in the late game. For E & H, Byron Witkowski and Keith Lutz were both 3/4 with a home run each and Wayne Chesley was also 3/4. Frank Merkl was 3/3 including a triple.
For the Garage Pub, Brent Carson was a perfect 3/3 on the night.

May 14:
Game 1 - First game on Tuesday saw the Cross Town Red Sox come out on top with a 13-9 victory over Stewart Optical. It was a very well played game with great offense and defense from both teams.  Highlights from the Red Sox included home runs from Boyd Hamm and Todd Kopec who also went 3 for 3 at the plate.  Larry Hurrell also was 3 for 3. Dan Hamilton and Brian Stonehouse shared the pitching duties. Highlights from the Optical team saw John Engel hit a homerun and Tom Baker and Randy Biko share the pitching duties.
Game Report By Brian Stonehouse

Game 2 - This was a very exciting game to watch as a fan and a player as the lead changed hands more than a good poker hand. The game was tied at Lucky 7 after 4 innings and the Sauer RV Lakers took a 14-13 lead after 6 innings. The Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes didn’t call the Sauer RV Lakers Bluff and scored 1 run in the bottom of the 7th inning to tie. The Sauer RV Lakers went under on the over but couldn’t get a run in the bottom of the not so Lucky 7th inning. Each team ended up with double 7’s for the tie, with a carry over and no payout.
The Silver Fox Gamblers who went 3 for 3 were Glen Stodolka (HR), Wade Watson, Sam Montoya and Darren Emerson. Randy poker dealer Kambeitz and Darren the chip runner Emerson went 2 for 3 with a home run each.
The Sauer RV  Storage Lakers had 9 players who went 2 for 3 included was Jiggers Barry Koch (HR), Darrell that’s something Maser (in the park HR), Majority owner Kevin Sauer who made a diving catch in the 7th inning to keep the Silver Fox gamblers at the table, Lutz Perschon, Good Moore, Darren Heinz and Clint Kleckner.
Another great job done by Mike’s Meats who cooked the best burgers in town and for the umps who were making and taking side bets while the game was going on. Also thanks to the announcing and scorekeeper who kept all the cards on the score clock.

Game 3 - The last game of the evening was a see saw battle that had the Morrison Maverick’s edge out the Station Coffee Longshots 12 to 11.
Offensive highlights for the Mavericks saw Garth Stark & Leon Moch go 3 for 3 and Dave Hammel hitting a 3 run homer. For the Longshots Dean Roy went 3 for 3 and Cal Mayer also went 3 for 3 with a home run.
Tim Mayer & Dave Hammel shared the pitch duties for the Mavericks and Dean Roy was on the mound for the Longshots.
Thanks to all the volunteers for providing another great evening at Lorne Holden field.

May 13:
Game 1 - The RV storage Lakers did not want a repeat of last weeks silence of the lambs game where they only scored 1 run but only gave up 3.
The RV Lakers got off to a good start by getting one more run in the first inning than they did in the previous game.
The main story of tonight's tilt was a 15 - 7 win for the Sauer RV Lakers. The game  featured, 2 - 5 run innings (4th & 6th) by the Sauer RV Lakers vs 1 by Elmer and Harold's in the bottom of the 7th.
Elmer & Harold's did win the home run derby with 2 home runs by Boom Boom Kelly Lutz, fresh off baby sitting duties during the day VS 1 home run by the most important guy on the Sauer RV Lakers team Bam-Bam Barry Koch (Beer Guy), who took the day off to rest up for tonight's game. Some good pitching by Gerard Hittel, 2 hard but easy fly balls caught by Clint Eastwood Kleckner and a couple nice plays from our rovers (Strict Owner Kevin Sauer and Wilf Carter Broesky) to force 2 critical outs at second base.
If the teams would have listened to the forecast this afternoon, the Lorne Holden Field gates would have been locked, the grill would have remained stone cold, and the Umps would have not been able to wear the reflective gear, instead of eye wear.
Another great Job by the cooks, umps and fans.

Game 2 - The second game of the evening saw Stewart Optical defeat the Station Longshots 13-8 in a well played game. There were a handful of good defensive plays on both sides as well as some timely hits, but the Eye guys were able to string together a few more hits as they held on for the win. John Engel homered and went 3 for 3 for the Eye Guys and Kevin Lane had a pair of hits including a home run as well. Bill Rothwell had three solid hits for Stewart Optical and Bruce Stuber, Greg Scott, and Doug Davies all added a pair of hits. Bruce Stuber and Randy Biko shared the pitching duties for the winners. For the Longshots Blair Hennes, Dean Roy, Cal Mayer, Wayne Miller and Miles Mayer all had a couple of hits. Another beautiful evening for ball.
Game Report By Jeff Thompson

Game 3 - The Redi Recycle Rockies and Cross Town Red Sox both started strong each scoring five times in the first inning. Strong pitching from the Red Sox, Brian Stonehouse and Redi’s, Larry Biko, combined with both teams playing strong defense in the next six innings resulted in an 8-8 tie.  The Rockies scored once in the top of the seventh inning and then held the Red Sox off the score sheet in the bottom half.  Boyd Hamm had two hits for Cross Town, including an inside the park home run. Todd Kopec, Dan Hamilton, Glen Ebel, Bruce Gardiner and Bill Lapshinoff all had a pair of hits as well for Cross Town.
For Redi, Philippe Marceau had three knocks. Keith Bender, Al Martens, Kevin Friesen, Rod Groves, Larry Biko, Rod Sommerfeld and Rod Brusky all banged out a couple of hits.
