Game 2 - On a beautiful night at the park, the Mavericks struck hard in the first to jump to a 5-0 lead. The Meateors clawed back with one in the second and a five spot of their own in the 3rd. In the seventh the Morrison group tied the game at 8, which lead to a walk off for Darrell Bonagofsky his third of the game. Subs Wayne Miller and Jim Black made great defensive plays, Brent Carson was 4-4 for the Mavs.

Game 3 - Elmer & Harold’s managed a 12 - 9 win over Juggie’s Taphouse in a quick game considering the score. Dieter Stanke was 3/4 with 2 home runs, Kasey Valkenburg was 3/4 with 1 home run and Al Martens was also 3/4. No home runs for E & H, but lots of timely hitting led by Frank Merkl and Mark Porter who were both 3/4 on the night. The umpiring crew did a great job and I am told the burgers were very tasty.

July 18:
Game 1 - First game of the night was a very close, pitcher's duel, with Juggies TapHouse Brewers squeaking out a 6-5 victory over the Station Coffee Longshots. Two of the more experienced and better pitchers in our league, Trent Rasch and Brian Stonehouse, kept the hitters off balance all night, as you can tell by the score. It was close throughout the whole game. The Brewers were up 2 going into the top of the 7th, the Longshots scored 1, game over. Jim Cooper scored the winning run after hitting a drive to the gap in RC for a double, and also made the final out on a hard-hit line drive to first base. Glen Ebel had our first 2 RBI's in the 1st inning. John Engel had a 2 run HR for Station, and Grant Mackay was 3-3 at the plate. Two very evenly matched teams, as was evident by the score. Thanks to the Mavs for their hard work tonight.

Game 2 - In the 2nd game of the night the Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes took on Stewart Optical and came away with a 16-3 victory. Highlights for the Foxes were Glen Stodolka 3-4 with a 2 run homer/Kerry Buss 2-3 including 2 doubles/Tim Seitz and Jake Thomas 3-3 Sam Montoya also chipped in with a triple. For the eye guys

Game 3 - The Lakers faithful who came out to cheer on the home squad needed to keep their programs close by as 6, yes 6 regulars were not in the line up for a Tuesday night tilt against the slumping Red Sox. Luckily the 3 call ups from the minors were more than admirable in pushing the Lakers win streak to 6. The game started slow with the Sox jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st on an RBI single from the pride of Fox Vegas Foodle Eresman. Little did the sports writers know that that would be the last run they would score on the streaking Lakers. The RV Storage boys got one run back in the 2nd then hit the league max 5 in the 3rd. From there it was pitching and defense for both squads. The Sox were held to just 6 hits all night, 2 by the pride of the Tigers Den, Darrell Maser, while the Lakers banged out 15. Players in the home dugout to record multiply hit games were TJ Johnson, Leroy “I’m Finally Home From Hawaii” Friesen, Jiggers Koch, Huggy Scherger and Iron Hips Hittel. The minor league callups Gord Diebert, Darcy Harty & Jake Thomas all played outstanding defense. It was like they knew next year was a draft year and they were looking to make an impression on the scouts hanging out in the bleachers eating $7 burgers.
The final in the 50 minute contest was Sauer RV Storage Lakers 8 Cross Town Courier Red Sox 1.

Game 2 - The wind at game time was like fighting 3 guys with one hand tied behind your back.
The strong wind came and went from all directions making a full 360 at times which mimicked the score from inning to inning.
Before game time we were going to toss a coin to see if we should go to the oppositions Garage Pub for a few sociables or play the game. The call from the two headed coin was to play the game. The wind and fine tuned bats helped each team get 5 run innings, which of course most of the minor errors were made by the wind. The Sauer RV Lakers came away with a close 14-12 victory over the Garage Pub.
Highlights for the Lakers came off the bats of Barry Bam Bam Koooch who went 4-4 with a HR and 5 RBI’s, while Darrell Bonenfant, Harvey Buye (sub) and Randy Wuerfel (sub) went 2-3.
Highlights for the Garage Pub came from coach Larry Biko, senior VP Dave Hamel, Todd Kopec and Mark Porter (sub) all went 3-4.
The whirl wind settled just as the game ended, just in time for the third game to start. Go figure.
Thanks to the umps, concession workers, the fans and to the people that finally found out how to close the gate and keep the wind out for the last game.
Game Report By Curtis Scherger

Game 3 - The third game of the night featured some stellar third base play from the Logos's Garth Stark and the Astro's Mark Porter. On the offensive side for the Logos, Garth Stark homered, Stan Rath and Perry Nurse each chipped in with doubles. Robert"White  Shoes"Jensen hit a 2 RBI triple in the top of the 7th to help seal a 14-9 win for the Astros. Randy Wuerfel subbed in admirably for E&H. Thanks to the Mavs for manning the concession and keeping order out on the diamond.
