It was a great night for ball. Tied 4-4 after the first inning meant it was going to be a close game. The Lakers score 5 runs in the 2nd while the IPA’s responded with 5 in the 3rd to make it 10 to 9 for the Lakers. The Lakers scored 2 in the 4th and 2 in the 7th to make it a 14 to 10 final score for the Lakers. Jim Cooper had a great game for the IPA’s going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s along with a great catch in deep left field. Darryl Bartman went 3 for 3 at the narrow but high plate.
Leroy Boom Boom Friesen went 4 for 4 at the dish while Gerry white shoes and Gerard quick draw McGraw Hittel on 3rd base went 3 for 4. Tim Johnson pitched a stellar game from the 7th inning on from out of the bullpen. Tim Johnson, Walter Pratt and Lutz Perschon had 2 hits each in the win. The sun went down at the right time when facing the powerful left batters from the IPA’s. At the end of the game the only thing hotter than the weather was Leroy Friesen’s bat.

On a warm summer night the Red Sox, despite being hobbled by injuries, exploded for 19 runs for a 19-8 victory over the Redi Recyclers. We were aided by our subs Cal Mayer, Jim Dulle and Walter Pratt. Jim hit a Homer for the Red Sox his second Homer in as many games. Unfortunately we won't be able to use him as sub anymore. Walter also made an outstanding catch in right field despite the sun. The rest of the team hit well and played strong defensively to help seal the win. Thanks again to our subs for their help.

But the Whiskey boys came storming back in the final and open 6th inning with 10 runs with hits by the entire batting order and made it a very close and tense end to the game. Winning pitcher Roger King with Tom Baker taking the loss.

An excellent game for the finale tonight, with the visiting Trackside Liquor Store IPA's squeaking out a 12-10 victory over the Garage Pub FOG. We were down 10-7 going into the top of the 6th and final inning, scored 5 to go ahead 12-10, and were able to keep the Garage Pub off the scoreboard for the win. Blaine Lutz hit a grand slam in the middle innings to keep the score close, but we were behind the whole game, until the end. Keith Bender really put on a clinic in RF for the FOG, robbing Brian Stonehouse & Kasey Valkenburg of sure extra base hits with some fabulous catches. Ron Jarvis also made a couple dazzling. watches in RCF. Daryl Bartman and Darren Heinz came up with some key RBI hits in the top of the 6th to help with the win. Great game, lots of fun. Thanks to the E & H crew for running things smoothly tonight, and to Bob and Gary in the press box.

Lakers came back with 4 runs in their first at bat off the bats of Lutz, Johnson, Kocky and Friesen. The Lakers held the Mavericks scoreless through to the 5th inning by some fine playing by Brian Coondog Cooney playing second while looking into the sun along with Kevin Sauer who needed sun glasses, wine glasses and hand glasses to catch a fly ball in right field looking into the almost setting sun. The Lakers scored 5 runs in the 3rd off the bat of the optical illusion Jim Stewart who put it over the yellow marker on top of the fence. The Mavericks scored 5 themselves in the 5th, 1 in the 6th and 2 in the seventh to narrow the gap to 4. The Lakers victory was 2x2x2x2x2x2 off the bats of Johnson, Kock, Hittel, Friesen, Stewart and far out in left field Brian Hoffner.

The Silver Foxes had built up a lead of 10-2 by the end of the 4th inning on a balanced attack, but the Rebels brought in their stopper or closer Perry Nurse and he pretty much slammed the door shut. In another one of those games where one team finds the gaps and the other finds the gloves,E&H turned 4 double plays tonight to defeat an injury ridden Sox team. Run downs, however, are a work in progress for E&H! Highlights for the Red Sox were a 3/3 night from Bob Marfleet and stellar defensive play from pitcher Sam Montoya. For E&H, Frank Merkle, Dave Sawatsky, Mark Porter and Keith Lutz batted 1.000 for the evening, highlighted by Keith's 2 run homer in the first.
