June 9:
-Game One
The Morrison Mavericks rode a five run fifth inning to a 10 - 9 victory by an eyelash over Stewart Optical. Team Stewart belted out three home runs in a real taffy pull that could have gone either way. The Mavs countered with Wandler, Philips, Lehman and Noel going three for three at the plate. A spectacular catch up against the fence by Stewart off a long ball hit by Parker saved at least two runs for the Opitcals. For the Mavericks Lehman, at rover, made a scintillating game ending catch.
-Game Two
Another great game tonight between the Logos Rebels and the Trackside Liquor Store IPA's, when the smoke cleared, it was a 9-9 draw. The stars of this game were definitely the defense, on both sides. Some great catches were made by both teams, and you just have to tip your hat to some of these plays, no matter what team they play for. Todd Ammann, Greg Scott for the Rebels, Glen Ebel, Brian Stonehouse and Blaine Lutz for the IPA's. Awesome to see some of the plays these guys made. What you think should be a routine hit were snagged by these guys. The Rebels were behind 8-4 going into the open inning, and scored 5 to take the lead. The IPA's mustered one run in the bottom of the 7th for a fitting end to a fun game. Both teams were missing some key guys, Leon Moch, Garth Stark and Al Martens, but both teams both battled hard regardless. Mucho Gracious to the Silver Foxes that handled the volunteer duties tonight, and Pres Jim and Garry in the booth.

-Game Three
As the Lakers and E&H prepared to take the field for the 3rd game of the night, Roger King announced that the game would be a slug fest and boy was he right! E&H prevailed in the end,18 to 17. The game ended on a bases-loaded grand slam by Kelly Lutz. Relief pitcher for the Lakers, Gerard Hittel, threw Kelly a slider that forgot to break down and away and out she went for the comeback win. Every player on both teams had multiple hits and both teams played great defense and not so great defense at times. Barry Koch, Keith Lutz and Kelly Lutz hit home runs. Keith Kleckner made a diving catch at the right field fence to rob the Lakers of what would have been an extra bases hit. After much discussion amongst Keith's team mates, it was decided to give him 10 out of 10 for the catch but the landing only gained him a 2.5. Thanks to the Silver Foxes for providing umps, announcers and the concession crew.

-Game Two
The first couple of innings were back and forth until Gerard Hittel hit a 3 run home run to make it 3 to 0. Curtis Scherger followed that up with a 2 run home run in the next inning to make it 5 to 0. Trevor Fauth followed up with a 3 run home run in the next inning to make it 9 to 0 and then the Lakers added 3 more runs to make it an 11 to 0 final. It was a night where the Lakers hit the holes and Southridge Wine and Whiskey hit to most of our gloves. Bill Ullman, brother to Toronto Maple leaf superstar Norm Ullman, made a great catch at home to make one of the final outs of an inning.

-Game Three
A great game to wrap up the evening tonight, Trackside Liquor Store squeaking out an 8-7 victory over the Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes (that is a mouthful), two very evenly matched teams. Not a lot of offense but great defense on both sides and great pitching performances from Roger King of the Silver Foxes and a combination of Brian Stonehouse and Alvin Dyck of the IPA's. The difference was back-to-back HR's from Al Martens and Kasey Valkenburg in the middle of the game. In the top of the 7th, the Silver Foxes had runners on 2nd and 3rd, but the IPA's got a groundout for the 3rd out and sealed the win. Thanks to the Logos crew working the games tonight, and Darlene and Truman in the booth.
