June 26 - June 29 Scores and Hi-Lites

June 29:
Game 1 - The Juggies TapHouse Brewers defeated the Morrison Mavericks in the first game tonight, 14-8. The Brewers were nearly flawless on defense, no errors and many great outfield and SS catches on hard hit balls by the Mavericks. The game could have been much closer, but our defense snuffed out many potential run-scoring innings. Kasey Valkenburg, our Juggies owner and sponsor was a perfect 4-4 at the plate, Al Martens, Jim Cooper and Craig Smith all had 3 hits. Blaine Lutz had a big 3 RBI HR in the 6th inning, which pretty much sealed the deal. Rick Parker was a perfect 4-4 at the plate for the Mavs, and Chris Wandler and Jim Phillips each had 2 hits. Vern Herter, sporting 2 big black eyes from last night's line drive, came to play, and took the loss. Pudge Bartman pitched his 1st game of the year, did a great job and got the win. Great job by the Logos boys on the diamond and in the kitchen. HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYONE... Have a safe weekend.

Game 3 - In the third game of a beautiful evening down at Lorne Holden, E&H scored 15 runs on 24 hits. Mike's Meats on a near comeback win, scored 14 runs on 25 hits. Paul King led the way for the Astros batting 1.000 along with Mark Porter and Kelly Lutz. Andy Christie matched Mark Porter 's 4 RBI evening on the way to our win. The Meateators Jeff Hall batted 1.000 and Randy Kambitz hit a line drive 3 run homer in the 7th to close in on the Astros. It's rumored that CHAT will be showing the lowlight of the night for the author of this piece as he was thrown out at first base by Rover Tom Baker on a "rocket" thrown from the restraining line in right-center field! Thanks to the Logos for the fine job they did in the concession and out on the field of play this evening.

June 28:
Game 1 - In the first game of the night the Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes took on the Garage Pub and came away with a 19-3 victory. For the Garage Pub it was one of those nights were everything they hit found a glove and it was the exact opposite for the Silver Foxes. For the Pub Danny Stevenson was 2-3 with a 2 run dinger and Larry Biko had 2 singles.
For the Silver Foxes many guys had multiple hit games but Tim Seitz was 4-4 with a 3 run homer, Glen Stodolka 3-3 with a triple.  Jake Thomas, Todd Toews and Gord Moore all had 3 singles each. Sam Montoya was the winning pitcher.

Game 3 - The Morrison Mavericks ended a seven game losing streak by defeating Station Coffee 16 to 7. Coach Rick Parker returned to the fold to spark the Mavs by banging out two three-run homers and an RBI double. Roland Schlenker also reached base three out of four trips and knocked in three runs.
For the Station, Bruce Stuber, Blair Hennes and Terry Rattai were all perfect at the plate.
Gerard Hittlel and JakeThomas filled in most capably for the Mavericks.

June 27:
Game 1 - A real good game tonight for the first game, with Juggies TapHouse Brewers outlasting the Mikes Meats Meateors by the score of 15-13. Mikes took the lead in the first inning, 4-3, but the Brewers battled back and slowly took the lead in the middle innings. The Brewers had a 15-7 lead going into the 7th inning, but the Meateors got serious with some hot bats in the top of the inning, scoring 6 runs and making the game very close. Blaine Lutz of the Brewers hit a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 1st.
Both of these teams have new, first time sponsors in our league, and we definitely appreciate their support. Hey guys, don't forget to support the sponsors in our league. They are all pretty much solid, small, local businesses that are excellent corporate citizens. And, a lot of these local sponsors/business owners are playing in our league. Give them your support when you can.

Game 2 - The Redi Recyclers got back in the win column with a 14-6 victory over the Station Coffee Longshots. Rod Brusky, Gerry Harpel and Jim Larson all had three hit nights for Redi. David Camphor and Darcy Harty chipped in with a pair of knocks. John McFee, Bill Martin and Grant MacKay banged out three hits each for the Longshots.

Game 3 - On another warm night at Lorne Holden Field, the Red Sox took on the Logos Rebels. Another strong hitting and defensive play by the Red Sox led them to a 15-6 victory. Garth Stark hit a 3 run homer for the Logos. Thanks to Jim Larson for subbing for us on 3rd base including an outstanding performance in running to 2nd base for a force out. Thanks again Jim.

June 26:
Game 1 - The Lakers and Logos took to the field on one of the most beautiful nights we’ve had this year at Lorne Holden field. No wind, no rain and no burnt burgers or hot Dogs.
The Laker bats that were put on ice for a few games this year were hotter than the grill on this night.
Barry the Cookie Monster Koch went 3/4 at the not so square plate with 2 home runs. The Logos did mention that Oscar the Grouch was bagging on the garbage can to relay what pitch was coming.
The other hot bats for the Lakers were; Walter Pratt, Lutz Perschon, Leroy Hawaii Five O Friesen, Gerard Hittel & Brian Bulldog Cooney all went 3/4, while Mike Shantz Darrell Bonenfant went 2/3 at crucial times to keep the ice off the bats.
The home town Logos had 6 players go 2/3 including veteran Stan Rath and Larry Rudolph. The Logos had their red lazor sited in on the Lakers gloves throughout the game. The Lakers beat the home town Logos Rebels 14-5 in front of a sold out bottom 3 row bench on both sides of the diamond.
Thanks again to the umps for making the right call when the burgers should be flipped and the concession workers for making the right calls on getting them out into the slow cooker.

Game 2 - On a warm summer's night the Red Sox took on the Copper Coulee Casino Silver Foxes. It looked like it was going to be a slugfest with Royce Hopkins hitting a 2 run homer in the first and Glen Stodolka and Kerry Buss hitting solo shots in their half of the first inning. But in the 2nd inning Don Hallberg hit a grand slam and the Red Sox never looked back going on to a 15-7 victory. Glen Stodolka hit a 3 run homer in the 5th inning but it wasn't enough.
Game Report By Bob Marfleet

Game 3 - On a beautiful summer night, Elmer & Harold’s squeaked out a 12 - 10 win over Stewart Optical. Jim Stewart pulled a muscle or two early on in the game, and to show one of the things that makes this league tick, Kerry Buss quickly volunteered to replace him. With the score at 12 - 10, Kerry led off the bottom of the 7th with a solid base hit that he tried to stretch into a double. It took a perfect relay from Keith Kleckner to Kelly Lutz to Robert Jensen and the tag was made at second for the first out. Then a hard hit ball back to Jim Fink was fielded cleanly for the second out. And so it went in the seventh as good defense came through for E & H. Honorable mention to Kelly Lutz who was a perfect 3/3 at the plate with a home run, double and a single. And the ever helpful Jim Black was so intent on his 3rd base coaching duties, he had to be told that he was not allowed to coach the Stewart Optical runners as well as his own team.
