June 1:
Game 1 - The first game of the night was a close, low scoring affair, with Juggies TapHouse Brewers defeating the pub on the west side of town, Garage FOG, by a score of 11-7. Very good pitching on both sides, Brian Stonehouse and Dean Roy. The Brewers offensive highlight was a screaming, hammered HR by Dieter Stanke that cleared the fence in a hurry.
Don't forget, next week, loonie hot dog night on Tuesday, hosted by the Mavericks. Who knows, maybe it will become a weekly event. We shall see. Have a good weekend everyone.
Thanks to everyone for stepping up with their donations to the Weisgerber family at a very difficult time. Our thoughts are with you Dale..

Game 2 - The game between the Logo’s Rebels and Mikes Meats Meateors was a very close game with the only home run by Garth Stark of the Rebels. The score was only 9-5 for the Meateors going into the 6th inning with strong pitching by Tom Baker. Until the 7th, lead by Jeff Hall, Kelly Martin and Tom Baker all having a 4/4 night at the plate scoring 7 runs in the 7th to seal the win for a final score of 16-6 win.

Game 3 - Before the game, pitcher Fred Kelln told the guys that “Its all about Run Support” and for once they didn’t let him down. 5 runs in each of the first, fourth and fifth innings and a couple in the second gave the Optical guys more than enough and they finally had the bats and gloves working in the same game as they took out the Mavericks by a 17 to 1 score. Darryl Bonogofsky once again had a big night at the plate with two long bombs to go along with a double and Jim Stewart added a tree trimmer of his own. Kevin Lane, Rob Fisher and Chad Stahl all had three hits to help the balanced offence. However, it was the defense that played just as big a role for the eye guys especially Chad Stahl who had a great game at second, tracking down a couple of hot ground balls as well as turning a couple of close double plays.
Roland Schlenker led the Mavericks with three hits and broke up the shutout by scoring a run in the fourth inning. It was a night where the balls the Mavericks hit were right at someone and the ones that were hit near them seemed to have eyes.

May 31:
Game 1 - In a hard fought battle Mikes meats scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the seventh to secure a 8-7 victory. Randy Kambeitz lead the way with the bat and the glove including a towering solo homer. Greg Martin had two key grabs in the outfield and the game winning ribbie. Don Hallberg was 3 for 3 and made a great running grab to keep the game close.

Game 2 - The middle game was a hard fought battle between the Copper Coulee Silver Foxes and the Elmer and Harold Autobody Astros, with Copper Coulee coming out on top 11-5. The game had good defense, good pitching and timely hitting on both sides. Leading the charge for the Astros were Frank Merkl and Keith Lutz both 2 for 3 with a double. For the Silver Foxes, Andy Stroh was 4 for 4, including a home run and Glen Stodalka and Tim Seitz were 3 for 3 with 2 doubles. Jake Thomas chipped in 3 hits. Game 3 - A very good offensive battle for our 3rd game tonight, a 19-15 victory for Juggies Brewers over the Great West Auto Lakers. More important though, both teams were sporting shiny, new jerseys, thanks to their player/sponsors, Kasy Valkenburg, owner of Juggies and Kevin Sauer, owner of GWA. I must say that our team uniforms have come a long way in the 12 years that I have played in the league, every team looks excellent. And, many of our sponsors are actually playing on the team they have bought jerseys for. A great big THANK YOU to our sponsors..
Back to the game: big hits, high scoring affair. Juggies leaders were Pudge Bartman, Deiter Stanke, Glen Ebel, Darren Heinz, Dale Wood and Blaine Lutz (a 3 RBI HR). All these guys had multiple hits. We brought in our closer, Brian Stonehouse, in the 2nd inning, after our starting pitcher strained his neck watching balls fly over the fence!!
Offensive leaders for the Lakers were Barry Koch, 2 HR's and 7 RBI's, Gerard Hittel, 4-4 with a HR, Leroy Friesen, 4-4, Kevin Sauer and Trevor Fauth, both with 3 hits. It was a fun, high scoring game between 2 very good teams.
Thanks to the Redi boys for running the show tonight. And, our concession is smoking!! I think we may have set sales records for our 1st week. and we have 1 more night to go. Time to go pick up supplies after a very busy 3 nights.

May 30:
Game 1 - On a warm spring night the Red Sox took on the Station Long Shots Coffee. It was a hard fought battle, but due to some timely hitting and good baserunning, the Red Sox came away with an 8-6 victory. Next game for the Red Sox tomorrow night

Game 2 - A very good ball game tonight at Holden Field between the Astros and the Lakers. No one left their seats, not even to get a burger and bag of chips until the dust settled late in the game. The Lakers lead 6-4 after 4 but the team with the colorful unis put up a 4 spot in 6 to go up 8-6. The bottom of the 6th proved costly for the Astros though. Leroy Friesen started the Lakers off with a double. Lutz Perschon followed that with a sharp single. That turned the order over back to the top for the “Owner” Sauer who promptly slashed another double. Another Fauth single brought Kochy to the plate who lined a sharp single to left (His 3rd hit of the night), then another single by Shantz. All of a sudden 4 runs crossed the plate. The Lakers added one more just for insurance then held the Astros in the top of 7. Make the final: Lakers 11 Astros 8. The losing squad was paced by the older smarter Lutz who had 2 dingers. His hearing is obviously the best as he could hear the garbage can lids a lot clearer than the rest of the team. Frank Merkl and Jim Fink also had 2 hit nights for the ‘stros. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Dave Sawatsky after injuring his wrist on a miraculous diving catch in the 6th. Thanks to the great kitchen staff (Mike’s Meats) and energy from umpires Kelly Martin and James Bonogofsky.

For the Silver Foxes, Glen Stodalka went 3 for 3, Sam Montoya went 3 for 3 with a double, Tim Seitz went 3 for 3 with a double and Randy Wuerfel had a 4 run inside the park home run. Roger King had the win with Jim Larson taking the loss.

Game 3 - In the final game of the evening Stewart Optical pulled off a 12-6 win over Station Coffee. Darrel Bonogofsky once again had a big night for the optical team smashing a couple of long home runs while Paul Edmundson went 4 for 4. Chad Stahl, Les Zeller and Fred Kelln all added three hits apiece to the fairly well balanced lineup. For the Station Coffee team Cal Mayer had a good game offensively going 3 for 3 and made a number of great plays at shortstop. Harold Enslen and Darrell Jesse both had a couple of hits. Fred Bohnet pitched his typical strong game for Stewart Optical while Bruce Stuber and Trent Rasch tossed strong games for Station.
